We’re not even a full month into the fall 2021 anime season and now EMT Squared wants us to look forward to spring 2022? That seems to be the idea behind releasing the first promotional video for their upcoming series I’m Quitting Heroing (Yūsha, Yamemasu).
In this fantasy series (that isn’t an isekai as far as I can tell), a hero saves the world from the army of the Demon King. Instead of being celebrated, though, he is seen as a danger to humanity and is banished. What’s a hero to do in this situation? March right over to the Demon King and request to work for them, naturally.
Originally a light novel created by author Kuontamu, the series is up to four volumes in Japan while the manga adaptation (which began running on the web manga site Young Ace Up back in May 2018) is up to five volumes. Along with the above promotional video, we also learned all about the cast and crew who will bring this series to life!
The cast list reads as:
Leo Demonheart: Kensho Ono
Echidna: Kaede Hondo
Steiner: Shizuka Itou
Lily: Hitomi Ohwada
Mernes: Yumi Uchiyama
Edvard: Tetsu Inada
As previously mentioned, EMT Squared is handling the animation production for this spring 2022 series. Heading up the crew will be Yuu Nobuta as chief director and Hisashi Ishii as the director. The series scripts will be written by Shigeru Murakoshi and Yuki Nakano will handle the anime’s character designs.
Based solely on the promotional video above, I’m Quitting Heroing could be a fun “fish out of water” fantasy series. I like the fact that the exiled hero marches right up to the leader of the demon army and presents his resume to get the job. While I always reserve the right to change my mind, this is already tickling my buttons and has me looking forward to more videos in the coming weeks.
