It was announced late last year that Takuma Sakai’s isekai light novel series Heat the Pig Liver (Buta no Liver wa Kanetsushiro) was receiving a TV anime adaptation. It was recently announced that the series is now slated for a 2023 premier. The official website revealed a key visual for the series featuring the two main characters Jess Yesma and Pig. Along with the new visual it was stated that Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke Hashibira from Demon Slayer) will be voicing Pig and Tomori Kusunoki (Makima from Chainsaw Man) will be voicing Jess Yesma.

Matsuoka has made some comments on his role as Pig in Heat the Pig Liver and is as stated. “Some parts are funny and some parts are very serious. If you are new to this series or have never heard of it, you should check out the PV we did. I am looking forward to playing the part and will do my best to provide you with a moving story.”
Kusunoki has also made some comments on her role as Jess Yesma and is as stated: “I first played the role of Jess in the original PV, and am honored to be playing the role in the TV anime as well. I am very excited about the strange and fresh setting with a pig as the main character. I will do my best to give you a fun and enjoyable performance.

Heat the Pig Liver was created by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Tosaka. They launched the light novel series on March 20th, 2020 after winning the gold prize in the 26th Dengeki Novel Prize in 2019. The seventh volume was published Friday, Japan time, by the Dengeki Bunko imprint. The manga adaptation was launched by Minami in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine in August 2020. They have complied three volumes to date.
Dengeki Bunko describes the series as:
If you lose consciousness while eating raw pig liver, you will be reincarnated as a pig in a fantasy world and embark on an adventure with a kind girl named Jess who can read people’s minds. That is exactly what happens to one ordinary otaku with no abilities or talents, save that of being reborn as a pig.
