The next season of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury will begin airing this April, and the fine folks at Sunrise have released a trailer to get people hyped up. The trailer highlights Suletta’s and Miorine’s independent struggles with their relatives, the horrors of war, and the strong bond that keeps them going.

The Fall of Vanadis & The Rise of the Witch
For those new to the series, our titular witch, Suletta Mercury, is one of two survivors of “the Vanadis Incident.” This was an unprovoked attack on a research facility that created the GUND format, a method for people to survive in space. Delling Rembran, father of Miorine Rembran, ordered the assault and has shown equal cruelty to his own daughter.
Years later, Suletta and Miorine meet in person at the Asticassia School of Technology. With separate goals and ambitions, they work together and foster a deep friendship. While Miorine rebels against her father, Suletta carries on as the pilot of the Gundam Aerial, a mobile suit using the hated and forbidden GUND format.
The second season will see the two main best girls continuing their struggles against their relatives, and looking their best while they do it. There might be some yuri vibes there, but there’s no confirmation. This is why fan works exist.
Though Suletta is a Spacian and not technically a Newtype, it doesn’t mean that Gundam fans shouldn’t keep up to date with the magazine that bears their name. J-List’s Newtype magazine of March has another mechanized maiden on the cover.

To go over the origins of the Gundam franchise would be an article unto itself. It’s been around for decades, and its cultural impact is undeniable. This particular iteration premiered in October 2022, and there are twelve episodes out so far.
