Recently, Japanese gaming magazine Nintendo DREAM held their weekly poll asking readers the question. “What character would make the best sightseeing guide?” The results were quite interesting, as characters like Anna from Fire Emblem and even Sans and Toriel from Undertale managed to make the list. Even Navi managed to make the list at number four, with twenty points to her name. Does that mean some folks actually followed Navi’s painfully obvious advice during Ocarina of Time? I suppose she would make a good tour guide, maybe for a bus tour? She is loud and repetitive after all.
However, Isabelle managed to take the top spot with a whopping ninety-six points. The second-place winner, Mario, only received forty-eight points. They honestly couldn’t have picked a better character though. Isabelle is one of the hardest working characters in the Animal Crossing universe. No matter how you play Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you’re only a figurehead. Isabelle manages almost everything else, not to mention she barely leaves her post at all in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, something animals will comment on if you talk to them. Her entrance into Super Smash Brothers Ultimate was most likely a form of stress relief instead of another job.
Her version of a sightseeing tour would be the best you could possibly get, most likely meticulously planned to the last second and jam-packed with plenty of activities. After all, it is her day job. As long as no one mentions the Mayor or Villagers, I think we’ll be fine. Angering someone who has nineteen different engineering degrees, may occasionally commit tax evasion, and has a lot of non-expressed negative emotions sounds like a terrible idea. With any luck, she’ll finally get the proper rest, relaxation, (and maybe therapy?) she deserves by the time Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes out.
