Here’s a 3DCG anime series for people dealing with Bocchi the Rock! withdrawals. Girls Band Cry is an original series with an up-and-coming cast of voice actresses. These talents got through an audition process and are entirely new to the industry. It’s fitting then that their first series is about girls new to the music industry. We’ll see how the characters — and the actresses breathing life into them — do when the series premieres sometime in April. We can enjoy the new trailer until then.
Toei created and produced Girls Band Cry and hired Kazuo Sakai and Jukki Hanada to direct and write the series, respectively.
The band members of TOGENASHI TOGEARI are as follows:
- Nina Iseri — Rina. An ordinary girl who coasted through school with average grades. She didn’t stand out much at all. Nina is the vocalist of the group.
- Subaru Awa — Mirei. A beautiful girl with an acting and performing career. She is strong-willed and competitive. Subaru is the drummer of the group.
- Momoka Kawaragi — Yuri. A street musician with a boyish personality and wardrobe. She acts as the carefree senior among her friends. Momoka is the guitarist of the group.
- Rupa — Syuri. A daughter born to a South Asian father and a Japanese mother. She is a modest girl with a keen mind and artistic sense. Rupa is the bassist of the group.
- Tomo Ebizuka — Natsu. A girl born into a wealthy and famous family. Although cynical and guarded, she now shares an apartment with Rupa. Tomo is the keyboardist of the group.
Toei has maintained a home page, a Twitter (X) page, a TikTok page, an Instagram page, a YouTube channel, and a Spotify page to promote Girls Band Cry. You can find additional series information, music videos, and Key Visuals there.
Girls Band Cry, Cheer, and Sing
Girls Band Cry is a tale of five girls from different backgrounds coming together to alleviate their loneliness on stage. Five girls with their own struggles find refuge in music. Fate brings these girls together, and they find their place in the world by singing their hearts out on stage. All five girls sing and play together as TOGENASHI TOGEARI.
