Funimation might not be producing simuldubs as quickly as they usually do (but really, who can blame them?) but they’re still working hard at creating dubs for their new series as quickly as possible for their viewers. The latest series to get a dub treatment is the breakout hit summer series Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! which will have its first dubbed episode hit the streaming service on Friday, September 11th. Before you dive into the brand new dub, however, let’s take a look together at who will provide the primary voices.
For those of you who aren’t already aware, there are two primary cast members in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out; the extremely extroverted female lead Uzaki Hana who will be played by Monica Rial, and the not so extroverted upperclassman Sakurai Shinichi who will be played by Ricco Fajardo.
Originally a manga series written and illustrated by Take, Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! has been running on the Dra Dra Sharp website since December 2017. As of July 2020, the series has five collected volumes in print in Japan. The English version is currently licensed by Seven Seas.
The anime adaptation was announced in early 2020. The animation is produced by studio ENGI with Kazuya Miura serving as the director, working off scripts written by Takashi Aoshima. Funimation has been simulcasting the series since its premiere and describes the story as:
University student Shinichi Sakurai is comfortable being an introverted loner and doesn’t care what others think. Buxom underclassmen Hana Uzaki doesn’t understand this one bit. A tornado of joy, she’s taken it upon herself to make him more social. Starting to enjoy her company, he’d concede that they’re friends. Can it be possible to have as much fun with another person as he would by himself?
