Fate/strange Fake was meant to be a one-shot anime movie premiering on July 2nd, 2023. Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- adapted the original novel well enough. As should be expected from this branch of the Nasuverse, everything is built upon lies. The one-shot will now become a series.
A-1 Pictures will be back to animate the series, but they have not given a release date yet. They have, however, provided a brief trailer to confirm everything. The trailer is also available in Japanese.
Home pages in English and Japanese have been maintained to promote Fate/strange Fake. Likewise, there are also official Twitter pages in English and Japanese that fans might visit for series information. Bonuses, such as the Key Visuals, are there as well.
A Holy Grail War Covered in Lies
Fate/strange Fake presents a fabricated Holy Grail War in the United States. A branch of the Mages Association, unrelated to the central London branch, acquired data about the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. Through this, they made Snowfield, Nevada, the stage of the False Holy Grail War. The system is different from Fuyuki’s, consequently making the method of people becoming Masters and the summoning of Servants a bit looser.
The story follows a version of Ayaka Sajyou (voiced by Kana Hanazawa), a girl with a truly tragic history. Numerous losses caused her to leave Japan and take up residence in America. She becomes embroiled in the False Holy Grail War after a government mage mistakes her for a spy. He summoned Saber (voiced by Yuki Ono) to kill her, but No Name Assassin (voiced by Lynn) killed him first. Ayaka’s unique Command Spells took control of Saber’s contract, granting her a powerful Servant. The introvert with more nightmares than dreams must navigate a chaotic situation where True and False Wars collide and fight to survive another day.
Fate/strange Fake Origins
We’ve previously discussed how the Nasuverse came to be when Kinoko Nasu helped to create Fate/stay night, which became the foundation of an empire. Fate/strange Fake started as an April Fools’ Day joke on Ryohgo Narita’s home page on April 1st, 2008. The original title was Fake/states night, likely an allusion to Fate/stay night. As an aside, Snowfield was located in California at that point.
Afterward, the text was edited and published with illustrations by Shidzuki Morii in TYPE-MOON Ace Volume 2 on January 21st, 2009. This April Fools’ Day joke was taken even further on January 10th, 2015, when a series was ordered for light novel and manga formats. The light novel has eight volumes in circulation, and the manga has five thus far.
The Nasuverse is full of lovely waifus. As such, the J-List shop has some recommendations if someone wants to add to their collection. The Idol Emperor/Nero 1/7 Figure from the Fate series section is now available.
