Another anime adaptation of an isekai manga has been announced so it must be a day that ends in Y.
In a promotional video that hit the official website for the manga series Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to, we learned that the series will be receiving an anime adaptation at some point in the future. Read on for all the details!
Set to air in January 2022, the series is another isekai involving two older men being transported to another world by a naked goddess. The twist this time, however, is that one of these men (naturally the less attractive of the two) gets turned into a beautiful young girl and can only get his original body back after completing a journey with his good-looking friend. If you watched the above promotional video, you undoubtedly heard the phrase “Love Comedy” repeated a few times at various points which I suppose means that we can expect a romance to bloom between the two friends?
For the voice cast, the characters are being filled out as:
Hinata Tachibana (Female): Mao Ichimichi (M.A.O.)
Hinata Tachibana (Male): Kento Itou
Tsukasa Jinguuji: Satoshi Hino
Goddess of Love and Beauty: Rie Kugimiya
Tilolilo Lilili Lu: Yukiyo Fujii
Narrator: Masashi Ebara
As for the crew, studio OLM Team Toshioka will be handling the animation production with Sayaka Yamai serving as the director. They’ll be serving alongside Toshimitsu Takeuchi who will provide the series composition, character designs by Aoi Yamato, and background music composed by Takeshi Watanabe.
Created by Yu Tsurusaki (writer) and Shin Ikezawa (illustrator), Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to has been running online on Cycomi since November 2019 and only has four volumes out in Japan as of May 2021. That already sets off a couple of red flags for me. While the promotional video looks solid enough, I still have concerns about how much story we’re going to be able to get when the series is only four volumes in. The concept feels good, but we’ll see how the execution plays out come January.
