Tohru and Kobayashi have hogged the limelight long enough. It’s time for Kanna to take the stage. The littlest and best dragon girl’s father abandoned her, but she found a new home and family in the human world. His return heralds an unwelcome change in not only her life. We’ll see how Kobayashi and her dragon friends handle his arrival when Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved premieres on June 27th, 2025.
Coolkyousinnjya released the original Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon) manga series on May 25th, 2013. Futabasha has published fifteen volumes in the Action Comics imprint. Kyoto Animation’s anime adaptation premiered on January 12th, 2017.
The main human girl and two of her dragon friends are as follows:
- Kobayashi — Mutsumi Tamura (Renly from Sword Art Online: Alicization — War of Underworld). A human programmer who meets a dragon girl after getting drunk.
- Tohru — Yuki Kuwahara (Naho Takada from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). An almighty female dragon who takes a human form to romance Kobayashi.
- Kanna Kamui — Maria Naganawa (Komekko from KonoSuba). A young female dragon exiled to the human realm for playing a prank.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved Shatters a Dragon Ball and a Family
“I don’t want to let go of your hand. Because we’re family now.” That’s this movie’s tagline. Kanna Kamui has never had a good relationship with her father, Kimun Kamui. She yearned for his love and affection, but he only wanted to treat her like a comrade. He had no interest in being a father. Kanna’s attempts to gain his attention led her to play a “prank” wherein she destroyed a significant artifact. Kimun abandoned her in a field and severed all ties with her.
Kimun traveled to the human realm to track Kanna. He had a drink with Kobayashi, Kanna’s mother figure. Their budding friendship sours when she discovers who he really is. Kimun spirited Kanna away and demanded that she create a new Dragon Ball to replace the one she shattered. The race is on to rescue Kanna and bring her back home.
