There are plenty of idols anime out there that follow groups of inexperienced yet passionate girls pursuing their dreams of stardom for the first time. Shows like Love Live! and 22/7 show us rising stars who are experiencing the life of an idol for the very first time. Not too many shows, though, focus on the idols who fail. Dropout Idol Fruit Tart belongs to that latter category, focusing on a ragtag group of unsuccessful performers who band together to try and get a second shot at stardom. The manga by Sou Hamayumiba launched back in 2014, but now a brand new anime adaptation is set to bring the story to televisions all across Japan when it premieres this July.
