Given the immense popularity of VTubers, it’s strange that there aren’t more VTuber-themed series. VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral After Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream (VTuber nanda ga Haishin Kiriwasuretara Densetsu ni Natteta) shows what happens when a digital idol drops her mask during a livestream and has some real fun. We’ll see how her career takes off when this anime series premieres on July 7th, 2024. Let’s enjoy the new trailer until then.
Nana Nanato released the original VTuber Legend novel on June 22nd, 2020, with publication by Hameln and Kakuyomu. Later, Fujimi Shobo hired the artist Siokazunoko to adapt the series to a light novel format starting on May 20th, 2021. Since then, the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint has published eight light novel volumes. Kadokawa Shoten hired the artist Roto Fujisaki to adapt the series to a manga format that began on August 25th, 2023, in Comp Ace.
Drunk Streaming VTuber Legend Cast
- Awayuki Kokorone — Ayane Sakura (Orio from Pokémon Horizons: The Series). She is a VTuber who played a wholesome and pure character online and received little attention. However, her drunken and wild persona proved to be far more popular.
- Sei Utsuki — Yu Kobayashi (Suzanne from Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation). Her VTuber lore states that she is a reincarnated succubus who starved because she prefers women. Despite being a dragon girl now, Sei has retained her succubus horns.
- Shion Kaminari — Sumire Morohoshi (Tiné Chelc from Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn). Her VTuber lore states that she is a shrine maiden containing a nine-tailed fox.
- Alice Soma — Azusa Tadokoro (Shizuka Mogami from The Idolmaster Million Live!). Her “cool beauty” persona belies an ardent infatuation with Awayuki.
Studio TNK has maintained a home page, a YouTube channel, and a Twitter (X) page to promote VTuber Legend. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.
A VTuber Legend Finally Enjoys Her Job
Yuki Tanaka quit her wage slave job and pursued her dream job as a VTuber. She joined Live-On, one of Japan’s most popular VTuber companies, and now works with her idols. Yuki streams under the persona of Awayuki Kokorone, an elegant and ladylike maiden who delivers the most seiso (from 清楚, せいそ — neat and clean, trim, tidy) wholesome VTuber content possible. However, it hasn’t been as successful as she had hoped. Awayuki’s subscriber count and bank account were undeniably dismal.
Her career trajectory changed one night after she failed to end her livestream properly. Awayuki’s audience heard her crack open some beers and comment on some of her colleagues’ video archives. They heard it all, the drinking, the crude jokes, everything. The viewers made clips and reuploads that went viral overnight. Awayuki’s fears about losing her job vanished when her manager surprisingly gave her free rein to drink during her live streams and collaborations. And it turned out that her (seemingly) perfect colleagues were just as wild as she was!
