If you were a fan of Hiro Mashima’s previous series, Fairy Tail, and are a current reader of his new series Edens Zero, then April 10th can’t get here soon enough as that is the newly announced premiere date for the upcoming anime adaptation! To celebrate the announcement, a brand new 50-second promotional video was released to the Internet on Wednesday, January 13th!
As you can see from the video, fans of this series are in for a fun, action-packed ride!
With animation produced by J.C. Staff (who handle the entire Raildex universe among many other series), the series already has a strong crew lined up, with Shinji Ishihara (Fairy Tail) serving as chief director and Yushi Suzuki serving as director. Mitsutaka Hirota is writing the scripts, while the anime character designs are being drawn by Yurika Sako. Yoshihisa Hirano (Death Note, Ouran High School Host Club) will compose the background music.
We only know three names from the voice cast so far, but the good news is that the eternally delightful Rie Kugimiya is returning to voice Happy. Also included in the cast are (character names first):
Shiki Granbell: Takuma Terashima
Rebecca Bluegarden: Mikako Komatsu
Originally a manga series, Edens Zero has only been running in Weekly Shonen Magazine since June 2018, but will be releasing its 13th volume in Japan on January 15th, 2021 (English fans will have to wait until August 2021). The series is currently being released by Kodansha, who describes the story as:
A young boy gazes up at the sky and sees a streaming bolt of light. The friendly, armor-clad being at his side tells him gently, “That’s a dragon.” The fact that he’s joking isn’t important. What’s important is the look of wonder on the boy’s face … and the galaxy-spanning adventure that’s about to take place!
