The summer anime season is fast approaching, which means this is your quarterly warning that new information like premiere dates and episode counts are going to be coming at us fast and furious… Oh look, a perfect example of this hit the Internet on Wednesday, May 26th, revealing the premiere date and latest promotional video for Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist. What an amazing coincidence.
As seen in the brand new promotional video, Drugstore in Another World has revealed that the series will premiere this coming July 7th. As previously revealed, EMT Squared will animate the series with Masafumi Sato sitting in the director’s chair and working off scripts written by Hiroko Kanasugi. The character designs are being adapted for the anime by Etsuko Sumimoto.
Originally a light novel series, the series began getting professionally published on Hifumi Shobo’s Brave Novel imprint starting in April 2018. The light novel series is up to four volumes in Japanese and one volume in English. The manga adaptation began its serialization in December 2018 and is also up to four volumes in Japanese and one volume in English.
There are a larger than the normal number of isekai series airing this coming July and this is one of them. Drugstore in Another World features another corporate slave from Japan who gets transported to a fantasy world. Luckily he has a talent for making really good healing potions, which he sells until he has enough money to open his own drugstore. No matter the ailment of his customer, he has a potion to fix it!
While this series didn’t make it onto our top ten most anticipated list, judging on that promotional video this looks like it could be a fun little slice of life fantasy series to kill 30 minutes with every week. Maybe it’ll even surprise us in a good way.
