Following a very successful crowdfunding campaign (¥115 million of a ¥30 million campaign, or 385% of the goal) for more episodes of the beloved anime series Dropkick on My Devil! (Jashin-chan Dropkick), a trailer for a special episode titled Dropkick on My Devil!! -End of Century Edition- has been released. There’s scant detail, but there’s plenty to intrigue fans of the series.
We won’t see the episode until winter 2023, so the wait may frustrate some fans of Jashin-chan and Yurine.
Studio Makaria will be animating this special with support from the town of Takamori, a significant location in Dropkick on My Devil!! -End of Century Edition-. Fans of the series should be content knowing that the anime promotional home page, the related official Twitter page, the manga’s official Twitter page, and the mangaka Yukiwo’s personal Twitter page are all still online.
The Evil God Ascends Solely to Prove a Point
For those new to the series, Dropkick on My Devil! follows the silly and often violent story of the witch Yurine Hanazono (voiced by Nichika Omori), who summoned the lamia Jashin-chan (evil god) (voiced by Aina Suzuki) from hell to Earth, only to prove she could. The magical grimoire that contained the summoning spell did not have the return spell, thus leaving Jashin-chan stranded on Earth. The only method to return to hell would be to kill her summoner. However, her attempts not only fail but result in painful punishments from the sole human in the main cast. Thankfully, Jashin-chan can regenerate her wounds.
Despite their differences and the violence, Jashin-chan and Yurine forge a great friendship.
There is little information about the plot of Dropkick on My Devil!! -End of Century Edition-, but we know aliens have destroyed Jinbocho, and Jashin-chan travels to Takamori to find Yurine after the attack.
