It’s also safe to say that short of a meteor striking the Earth, we will all be continuing to talk about this series for the foreseeable future as the anime series continues to truck along until the story is complete.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba originally ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. As mentioned, the 23rd and final volume hit store shelves in Japan at the end of 2020 while Viz Media is still working on releasing the English language editions. For those of you who are keeping up with the English releases, you can expect the final volume to hit shelves in North America on August 3rd, 2022.
In this historical action-fantasy, the main character is a young man named Tanjiro who returns home one day to discover that demons have slaughtered his family. The only “survivor” was his sister Nezuko, who has been turned into a demon herself. After this incident, Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer intending to find a way to turn his sister back into a human girl.
The anime adaptation produced by famed and beloved studio ufotable first premiered in April 2019 and was an instant hit with fans who praised the amazing animation quality and fell in love with Nezuko and Tanjiro as characters.
