We have another tale of gamers trapped within the world of a VRMMORPG. Gamers, though they may be, they also work in QA, and they’ve been working overtime. These fine people don’t have a choice: they’re stuck in their jobs. We’ll see how the worst crunch time in history goes when Quality Assurance in Another World (Kono Sekai wa Fukanzen Sugiru) premieres in Spring 2024. Until then, let’s see the trailer.
Masamichi Sato first released Quality Assurance in Another World on May 30, 2020. Kodansha has since released ten volumes in Comic Days. 100Studio and Studio Palette, which made KamiKatsu, will work together to animate this series.
Our stellar debugger and two of his allies are as follows:
- Haga — Kaito Ishikawa (Karaku in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). A debugger who is trapped in his latest assignment. He continues his work while hoping for an escape.
- Nikola — Hinaki Yano (Kitasan Black in Uma Musume Pretty Derby). An NPC who resurrected from a story-related game-over. She now follows Haga as a friend and assistant.
- Akira — Rie Takahashi (Megumin in KonoSuba). A fellow debugger who first appears as a fearsome black knight. She later joins the party as a cute elf girl.
A promotional home page and an official Twitter page have been set up for Quality Assurance in Another World. Fans and potential viewers can find additional series information and the Key Visual at the site. Amano’s voice actor, Reiji Kawashima, has also shared his excitement on Twitter.
Working Overtime in Another World
Quality Assurance in Another World is a very apt title for the series. Debuggers from different companies are tasked with performing standard quality assurance in an upcoming VRMMORG titled King Seekers Online. These debuggers, gifted with stone slates that enable them to do their jobs, are sent into an incomplete and buggy game. It’s quickly discovered that the debuggers have become trapped in the game and unable to log out. However, they can still submit bug reports developers can address soon.
The story begins a year after the debuggers have been locked in the game. Haga continues to perform his tasks as his job outlines. It’s his method of staying sane in a truly insane situation. He’s been overseeing an event where a dragon destroys a village. The event repeated a few times, all for him to debug every instance. After the last run, a girl named Nikola, whom Haga had saved, resurrected before him. Her backstory had changed from a simple village girl to “a girl who left her village to travel with the Seeker.” Their first outing leads them to meet two other debuggers. However, these two are part of a group using their debugger mode to live life in god mode.
If you’re looking for another girl who became trapped in a game, J-List has a recommendation. The Asuna 1/7 Figure Stacia, The Goddess of Creation ver. from Sword Art Online is now available for pre-order.
