It’s been a while since we last discussed Date A Live V, the fifth season of this beloved harem anime. We have a full trailer that reintroduces the main characters and showcases a couple of sinister foes that went too far. This next season is set to premiere sometime in 2024. Until then, the new trailer will leave us in agony.
Koshi Tachibana and Tsunako created the Date A Live novel from March 19, 2011, to March 19, 2020. Fujimi Shobo released all 22 volumes in Dragon Magazine. The anime adaptation began airing on April 6, 2013.
Our harem protagonist and some of his Best Girls are as follows:
- Shido Itsuka — Nobunaga Shimazaki (Mahito in Jujutsu Kaisen) A kind-hearted young man who can seal spiritual energy in his body, but only after gaining the Spirit’s trust and affection. He saves the world one romantic encounter at a time.
- Tohka Yatogami — Marina Inoue (Momo Yaoyorozu in My Hero Academia) The Spirit that Shido first encounters and romances. Her feelings for him remain strong, even as she aids him in his quest to seal spiritual power.
- Origami Tobiichi — Misuzu Togashi (Raita in Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon) A human girlfriend in an otherwise Spirit-based harem. She aims to avenge her parents by slaying the Spirit that attacked them.
- Kurumi Tokisaki — Asami Sanada (Rani VIII in Fate/Extra Last Encore) A dangerous Spirit who likes Shido so much that she wants to eat him. She has limited time left, as the clock in her eye indicates. Despite that, she refrains from killing people to save herself.

A Love Song at the Origin of the World
The world of Date A Live has been devastated by spatial quakes. These occur when Spirits from another domain enter this world. Shido Itsuka, alongside his adopted sister Kotori, comes upon a Spirit just as she enters this world. Kotori explains the true nature of Spirits and reveals her position as a commander of Ratatoskr, an organization determined to confront the Spirits. Afterward, it quickly recruits Shido to its ranks, and Shido unveils his true power. He can seal the power of Spirits in his own body, but he must first gain their trust and affection and share a kiss with them.
This new season will introduce the First Spirit, Mio Takamiya. She has a connection to both the spatial quakes and Shido himself. Her story will bring these elements together, along with one of the primary villains of the series.
