Date A Live Season 5 has been teased with a new preview trailer that only shows the Spirit of Origin, the first Spirit to appear in the world. Titled alternatively Date A Live V, there’s no current release date, so we’ll have to make do with a brief teaser and wonder how the appearance of the first Spirit will impact the story.
It’s been a while since Season 4 graced our screens. If you’re new to the series, Peter has provided a detailed list of why you might enjoy Date A Live.
Geek Toys, who took over the anime adaptation starting on Season 4, has set up a new promotional home page for the new season (though the Season 4 home page still works) and have maintained the official Twitter page to keep fans up to date with new series announcements. Extras, such as the key visual, both with and without the series title, can be found there.
The series cast, developers, and original creator Koshi Tachibana made a fun sign to celebrate the new season.

Pretty Spirits & the Man They Love
Date A Live follows the story of Shido Itsuka, a man with the unique power of sealing away Spirits’ powers in his own body. How he obtained this unique and powerful ability may be touched upon in the upcoming Season 5. But the key to using this ability is to make these Spirits, all women, fall in love with him and share a kiss. In this manner, he gains a harem of super-powerful women.
Spirits are humans who have obtained supernatural abilities. Spirits first appeared 30 years ago after a “spatial quake” ended countless lives, though more have occurred over the proceeding years. Shido is recruited by Ratatoskr to deal with these Spirits and end their threat to humanity. Although, as the first Spirit can attest, humankind isn’t so innocent in treating Spirits, either.
Date A Live Origins
Date A Live first built a harem of sexy Spirits, both good and bad, as a light novel series written by Koshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako. Fujimi Shobo published the series in its Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint from March 19th, 2011, to March 19th, 2020.
The anime adaptation, which saw multiple studios work on it, first premiered on April 6th, 2013, and has since aired 46 episodes, two OVAs, and a theatrical film.
Around the same time as the anime adaptation’s premiere, a new light novel series titled Date A Live Encore debuted. Published between May 18th, 2013, and May 20th, 2022, eleven volumes were released to eager fans.
In addition, a few video games were released, one of which was Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation, which was censored on the PlayStation 4 due to PlayStation’s censorship policies.
If you are possibly in the market for even more Date A Live goodness, the new and improved J-List shop has you covered. The Kurumi Tokisaki 1/7 KDcolle Figure Wedding Dress Ver. figure makes a waifu of the clock-eyed Spirit with a tense relationship with Shido.
