Dark Gathering is determined to earn its title, and its new trailer proves it. Even the cute girl on the cover is scary as heck. There’s also a yandere childhood friend in the story. So yeah, our protagonist will definitely be fine as this story progresses.
The series is scheduled to premiere sometime this summer, in July 2023. Until then, here’s the new trailer to watch under the protection of blankets and a nightlight.
OLM’s Team Masuda has created a promotional home page and set up an official Twitter page to keep fans and potential viewers up to date with all new information about their adaptation.
Besides series information and updates, it has provided a couple of Key Visuals to enjoy.
Shueisha has also made the first chapter of the original manga version free to read on their website.
Avoiding Spirits by Confronting Spirits
Dark Gathering is an apt title because things gather in the dark, and you would rather have them not gather at all. They still gather because they are rude.
Keitarou Gentouga (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki) became a shut-in after an encounter with a spirit two years ago. His hand was spiritually injured, and his friend was caught in the crossfire. He has a penchant for attracting ghosts, which leads him to isolate himself further from the outside world. Recently, however, he began to rejoin society with the help of his childhood friend Eiko Houzuki (voiced by Kana Hanazawa), the yandere of our story who has Keitarou bugged.
Keitarou became a part-time tutor to Eiko’s cousin, Yayoi Houzuki (voiced by Yu Sasahara), to further his reintegration into society. Unfortunately for Keitarou, Yayoi not only attracts spirits as he does but also pursues them to strengthen herself to rescue her mother’s spirit from an evil spirit known as Kuubou, the Moonless Dawn Embryo. As such, Eiko and Yayoi drag Keitarou to the haunted spots he would rather avoid at all costs.
Dark Gathering Origins
Dark Gathering began scaring the bejesus out of readers and Keitarou as a manga series written and illustrated by Kenichi Kondo. Shueisha started publishing the cursed work in its Jump Square magazine on March 4th, 2019, releasing eleven volumes to scare readers in the dark since then.
For those who need more than a security blanket when reading or watching Dark Gathering, you need something that scares the monsters, like a VTuber who is both a rapper and a reaper. Hololive’s Mori Calliope Figma Action Figure should be enough to keep anyone safe. It’s available now at a discounted pre-order.
