For the most part, boy’s love (BL) production has really slowed down since last year, which gave us five movies and a TV series. So far it’s just been a few small announcements with little updates about the Sasaki to Miyano anime. However, we now have a little more to look forward to later this year. It’s been a little over two years since the first season of Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed By the Sexiest Man of the Year ended its run in Japan, but now we’re glad to say we’re getting a sequel and it’s in the form of a movie!
The ongoing manga for Dakaichi has been a tremendous success and it enjoyed a steady hold on the Japanese audience, long after the TV anime finished its run. Currently, it’s seven volumes long and has sold over three million copies, worldwide. With only 13 episodes produced, there was a lot more of the story to tell.
Now, the next story arc is going to hit the big screen in a new film titled Dakaichi: Spain Arc.
Returning cast members are:
- Yūki Ono as Junta Azumaya
- Hiroki Takahashi as Takato Saijyō
- Kousuke Toriumi as Kazuomi Usaka
- Wataru Hatano as Kiyotaka Arisu
- Takuya Satō as Chihiro Ayagi
- Uūma Uchida as Ryō Narumiya
Dakaichi follows the career of Japan’s sexiest actor, Takato Saijō, who has been recognized as the “sexiest man of the year” for five straight years. Those five years of being straight come to an end when he loses to and falls in love with newcomer actor, Junta Azumaya. Well, more like Junta falls in love with Takato. In fact, Takato sees him as a rival and gets competitive with him.
