A brilliant and cheerful head of diagnostics takes on medical cases that baffle her colleagues. This cute doctor happily solves the most complex mysteries and applies her medical knowledge to different crimes. Her diagnosis is usually murder! We’ll see her solve all sorts of cases after Ameku Takao’s Detective Karte (Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte) premieres sometime in January 2025.
Mikito Chinen and Noizi Ito released the original Ameku Takao’s Detective Karte novel on September 29th, 2014. Practical Japanese Sha has since published sixteen volumes in the Practical Japanese Sha Bunko imprint.
The genius diagnostician and her two friends are as follows:
- Ameku Takao — Ayane Sakura (Orio from Pokémon Horizons: The Series). The head of Teniikai General Hospital’s General Diagnosis Department. She does not need a cane.
- Mai Konoike — Manaka Iwami (Linie from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End). A cheerful intern who admires Ameku. She’s probably not a widow.
- Yu Takanashi — Kensho Ono (Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). An earnest doctor who works with Ameku. He’s probably not from Australia.

Ameku Takao is the head diagnostician of Teniikai General Hospital. As brilliant as she is, Ameku worries about others seeing her as a child due to her short stature. She happily takes on medical cases that confound her fellow doctors without insulting her colleagues or patients. Her work often involves her cooperation with the police as she examines victims of criminal activity.
Ameku proves to be equally capable as a detective while solving criminal cases that baffle even police officers. Her most recent case presents a patient with blue blood and a missing leg that a humongous creature must have bitten off.
