A new Cinderella-like fairy tale has begun. A horrible minor noble family constantly mistreats their younger daughter. Circumstances force her to marry a prince in her older sister’s stead. We’ll see where fate takes her when Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex (Zutaboro Reijo wa Ane no Moto Konyakusha ni Dekiai Sareru) premieres sometime in July 2025.
Tobirano and Mai Murasaki released the original Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex light novel on April 15th, 2020. Futabasha has since published seven volumes in the M Novels f imprint.
The poor, unfortunate soul and the kind prince are as follows:
- Marie — Rena Motomura (Fred Thompson from Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-). The mistreated daughter of Baron Shederan. She replaces her sister as a bride.
- Kyuros — Daiki Hamano (Guile India from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?). A kind count born to a foreign mother. He has eyes only for Marie.

Tragedy Struck and I’m Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex
Marie was born into a poor baron family. Anastasia, her older sister, is the clear favorite. Her parents meet her every need without question. However, they treat Marie like a servant, forcing her to wear tattered clothing. Her hair remains messy because they don’t allow her to bathe with soap. So, they replaced Marie’s eighteenth birthday as a debut ball for Marie to find a rich husband.
She manages to strike up a conversation with Count Kyuros Granado. Marie is fascinated by his culture, and the two enjoy their time together. However, Marie’s low self-esteem causes her to run away. Kyuros sends a letter of intent to marry Anastasia since he never got Marie’s name. Unfortunately, Anastasia died en route, so Marie’s parents forced her to go to him. Things might work out better for everyone involved except Anastasia. She had her own dreams and a genuine love for Marie.
