People’s fates take shape the moment they’re born. The goddess of light bestows a “job,” and the goddess of darkness bestows a “skill.” These two determine how someone might live their life. An adventurer filled with hope tries to make the most of his common-level skill to become a hero. Tragedy and betrayal mar his path forward. We’ll see what becomes of him when Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest (Fuguushoku “Kanteishi” ga Jitsu wa Saikyou Datta) premieres on January 9th, 2025.
Ibarakino and Yu Hitaki released the original Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest light novel on October 2nd, 2020. Kodansha has since published three volumes in the Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint.
The underappreciated adventurer and his two saviors are as follows:
- Ein — Kikunosuke Toya (Denji from Chainsaw Man). An abused adventurer with a commonplace skill.
- Yuri — Hikaru Tono (Rabi from Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro). Yggdrasil’s spirit and will made manifest.
- Ursula — Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi the Rock!). Yuri’s “mother” and guardian.
Studio Okuruto Noboru has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest. You can find additional series information and the key visuals there. They left him to die, and he has never been more alive.
Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest, So Don’t Give Up!
Ein was born with the commonplace “appraiser” class, which limited his options in life. His parents died when he was young, and he lost their land in business. Despite these tragedies, Ein remained steadfast in becoming a great adventurer. The only party he could join decided to use him as little more than a slave to appraise objects and carry them in a heavy bag. They would routinely strike him and laugh as he did nothing in his defense. The party ended their association with him when their mage paralyzed him and left him as bait for powerful monsters.
Ein managed to free himself, but there was nowhere to go. He accepted his fate and threw himself into a bottomless pit. Two elven maidens rescued Ein: Yuri, the spirit of a divine Yggdrasil tree, and her adopted mother/guardian, Ursula. Since Ursula could not part from Yuri, she agreed to train Ein to survive the maze so he could escape by himself. Ein will now rise above.
