Unfortunately, the much-anticipated Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) VR game Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable has been delayed. The CEO of UNIVRS, the studio working on this game, has confirmed the news in a press release. Eager members of the Survey Corps will have to wait until late 2024 before they can swing and slice down Titans. Let’s take this opportunity to watch the trailer again.
Hajime Isayama first released his original Attack on Titan manga on September 9th, 2009. Kodansha has released all 34 volumes in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.
Further information about Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable can be found on its Meta Store webpage and UNIVRS’s website. Fans can also watch Unbreakable’s website and official Twitter (X) page for further updates.
Slay Titans in First-Person
The plot surrounding Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is still scarce. It’s been confirmed that there will be a multiplayer element. This will allow players to strategize and take down different Titans. Teamwork makes the dream work and prevents players from getting eaten. It is unknown if players will be taking on the roles of Eren and his friends or new characters. Still, soaring through the skies on Omni Directional Mobility Gear and narrowly avoiding Titans’ hands seems fun regardless of who is in the driver’s seat.
Unbreakable was first announced on December 8th, 2022. A winter release was initially planned, as confirmed in the announcement. However, plans seemed to have fallen through. A delay announcement was made on January 2nd, 2023, which changed a summer release to a new winter release. Here we are with yet another delay.
UNIVRS CEO Keigo Fujikawa announced a wide release window of “the latter half of 2024.” Even the older YouTube titles were changed to reflect this release window.
To quote Mr. Fujikawa:
To all those who are waiting for the release
“We have decided to postpone the release date of “Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable” once again.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to those who have been looking forward to the game as well as to everyone involved. To deliver the highest quality product to players around the world, we need a little more time to complete it.
All of us at UNIVRS will continue to work hard to bring you a VR title that you will enjoy even more.
Keigo Fujikawa, CEO, UNIVRS
We are striving to make “Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable” more exciting for all of you who are waiting for it, and we appreciate your continued patience.”
This is a sad turn of events for fans of the series. Had UNIVRS released Unbreakable to coincide with the anime finale, this VR game would have likely been a Christmas bestseller. Everyone was talking about the finale. Even Peter, Your Friend in Japan, is adamant that the finale and the series as a whole truly mattered. With everyone’s eyes on this series, releasing a VR game right then and there would have been a literal game-changer. However, with two or more delays (so far), hopes for Unbreakable might be at an all-time low.
