The Arknights anime adaptation continues soon in the next season, titled Perish in Frost, which follows the events of the first season, Prelude to Dawn. We were first treated to this adaptation of a tower defense mobile game a couple of years ago and finally see the story continue. The premiere date is yet to be announced, but we have a trailer, and an entire first season, to tide us over until then.
Yostar Pictures, the studio working on the series, released both an English and a Japanese trailer.
Yostar Pictures and Hypergryph, the company that continues to develop Arknights, have maintained various websites dedicated to both the anime series and the game itself. A promotional home page for Season 1 is still available, while a home page for Season 2 has been established. As always, the home page for the video game is still up to date, as is the official Twitter page.
A key visual has been released promoting the second season.
The Crystals of Power & Death
The story of Arknights is bleak, despite the characters having cute animal ears. Natural disasters gave rise to a powerful mineral known as originium. It’s found to be a great source of power that helped humanity develop ever more advanced technology. However, that same power affected some humans, inflicting them with oripathy, a progressive disease. Those with oripathy have been granted magical abilities while cursing them with inevitable death.
Those with oripathy are treated poorly by the rest of humanity, so they formed an extremist group known as the Reunion Movement. Standing opposed to them and various other organizations and governmental forces is Rhodes Island, a pharmaceutical, medical, and self-defense organization dedicated to finding a cure to save everyone.
The new season of Perish in Frost begins with Rhodes Island sending a scouting party to investigate a strange phenomenon: the appearance of which reminds one of the Operators of a legend about a “Snow Devil.”
Arknights Origins
As previously stated, Arknights first took to the field as a tower defense game for mobile phones. It was released in China on May 1st, 2019, and worldwide on January 16th, 2020.
Okay, we all saw the cute bunny girl in the trailer. We know that everyone has a great love of bunny girls. Fortunately, the J-List shop can scratch that bunny girl itch. The Amiya 1/7 Figure The Song of Long Voyage Ver. from the Arknights would make a fine addition to a bunny girl army.
