AniSong Performer KOTOKO to Release Greatest Hits Album in November 2020

There are a lot of very talented anisong singers out there but for my money, one of the best of all time would have to be KOTOKO who has had a successful multi-decade career in Japan thanks in large part to her very catchy anime theme songs. Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, KOTOKO always believed that her voice would be her career even from a young age, and wow was she right in that regard!

Making her debut as part of I’ve Sound in 2000, her first anime theme song was for the classic sci-fi romance Please Teacher in 2001. Over the next twenty years, she would go on to become a prolific singer by performing the theme songs for series including Kannazuki no Miko (Destiny of the Shrine Maiden), Accel World, Hayate the Combat Butler, and many, many others including the upcoming fall 2020 series King’s Raid.

To celebrate such a monumental career, it was reported on Tuesday, September 8th that the singer will release a special 3 CD greatest anisong hits album entitled “The Fable” on November 17th, 2020. The album will include 31 tracks and the special limited edition version will include a concert Blu-ray! They filmed the included concert in Taipei in January 2020.

If you’re a die-hard fan of great anime theme songs from history, this will be a “can’t miss” release from one of the greatest theme song performers in history (though I might be a bit biased in that opinion). Priced at 8000 yen (a little over $75 USD), this album is already up for pre-order on CDJapan and other music outlets but with this being a limited edition release, you’ll probably want to pick up your copy sooner rather than later lest you be left out in the cold!
