ANIME
ANIME TO MOVIES
- Mirage QUEEN: Technically, this is a sequel, but it’s my list, and I can put this wherever I want. A brand-new 60-minute theatrical OVA is heading for theaters in Japan. The franchise in question is the Mirage QUEEN series, and the title will be Mirage QUEEN’s Elegant Vacation (Japanese title: Kaitou Queen no Yuuga na Vacances). (Anime Eiga)
- Demon Slayer: For the Demon Slayer fans, we have great news that is certain to keep your whistle wet. Details are scarce, but reports already say the upcoming Mugen Castle arc will be a theatrical trilogy. (Tarosoku)
- Gintama: Once again, this is technically a new movie, so I feel it’s worth reporting on here. A brand-new Gintama movie will land in Japanese theaters this fall. Titled Gintama on Theater 2D Kintama-hen, the film is just reedited portions of the TV series shown in a new way. (Comic Natalie)
MANGA
- I Ended Up Marrying The Girl I Hate the Most in my Class: Getting into new TV anime headed our way, a promotional video released on the internet has revealed that the manga series I Ended Up Marrying The Girl I Hate the Most in my Class (Japanese title: Class no Daikirai na Joshi to Kekkon suru Koto ni Natta) is getting an anime. - Baban Baban Ban Vampire: Set to premiere in January 2025, news reports reveal an anime adaptation for the manga series Baban Baban Ban Vampire. The series will star Daisuke Namikawa and Yusuke Kobayashi. More details will certainly be coming soon. (Spice)
- Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest: Also set to premiere in 2025 (though we’re not sure when exactly) is an anime adaptation of the manga series Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest (Japanese title: Fuguushoku [Kanteishi] ga Jitsuwa Saikyou Datta: Naraku de Kitaeta Saikyou no [Shingan] de Musousuru). No promotional video for this one, but here’s a key visual celebrating the announcement. (Otakomu)
- Kaiju Sekai Seifuku: If you’re looking for something a bit more light-hearted, spring 2025 will see the premiere of an anime based on the 4-koma manga Kaiju Sekai Seifuku. (Anime Eiga)
- Bad Girl: The manga series Bad Girl has entered production as an anime adaptation. Studio Bridge will produce the series. (Anime News Network)
MOBILE GAMES
- Tasokare Hotel: Yet another anime revealed for January 2025. The Japanese mobile game Tasokare Hotel will be adapted into a TV series. In a mysterious hotel between death and life, the game focuses on a main character who helps hotel residents who cannot remember who they are, what they are doing there, or if they are still alive. Produced by studio PRA, the series revealed its first promotional video and some cast members who will reprise their roles from the game. (AnimeAnime.jp)
LIGHT NOVELS
- I’m a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic: Speaking of incredibly long titles, here’s another one set to premiere in January 2025: I’m a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic. J-Novel Club publishes the light novel series in English and describes the story:
What’s a guy to do when his life suddenly changes while innocently enjoying a nice, cold drink after work? And I mean really changes. This middle-aged commoner now finds himself in the body of Liam Hamilton, the young son of a noble house teetering on the brink of collapse. Between his fervidly desperate father and his utterly apathetic brothers, the only bright side to his new situation is that Liam can finally try learning magic like he’s always wanted. Little does he know his hobby of choice may be about to turn his life upside-down yet again! Will Liam be able to master the craft of magic? And will it be enough to save him from the shadow looming over his family…?

LIVE-ACTION
- Tanabata Country: After a flood of announcements last time, only one series received an announcement for a live-action adaptation this time. The series in question is a manga from the creator of Parasyte, titled Tanabata no Kuni (literal translation: Tanabata Country). The series will premiere in July 2024. (Yaraon)
VIDEO GAMES
- Madoka Magica: The franchise that keeps on giving is returning for yet another mobile game. Based on the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise, the new game’s title is Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra and will debut in 2024. (Comic Natalie)
- Farmagia: If you’re a fan of Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail), he’s got a new game coming out later this year that is reportedly “Digimon-like.” Titled Farmagia, the monster collecting game will be released on Switch, PS5, and Steam at the beginning of November 2024. (Esuteru)
- Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Finally, we come to the big news of this section… Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is getting a mobile game from KLab that is aiming to be released worldwide (excluding Japan) in 2026. (Esuteru)
SEQUELS
- Ranma 1/2: I heard rumors about this as far back as a couple of weeks ago but only reported this once we got firm confirmation. As of June 25th, however, it became official that the classic series from Rumiko Takahashi, Ranma ½, will receive a brand-new anime adaptation. (X, Ryokutya)
- Unnamed Memory: Announced on the same day as Ranma ½, Unnamed Memory revealed it will return for a second season. (Spice)
- Tokyo Revengers: Tokyo Revengers is returning for a sequel in 2025! (Spice)
- I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability: Isekai fans rejoice! A second season of I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability is being produced. (AnimeAnime.jp)
- As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World: Another isekai getting a second season is As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World. The second season will air in the fall of 2024, and we got this promotional video. (Otakomu)
