It’s been a while since we last discussed the time-traveling epic 7th Time Loop (Loop 7-kaime). The first trailer didn’t show too much, but we did get good scenes of the pink-haired princess Rishe, which was nice. This new trailer introduces more of the cast and gives us a January 2024 premiere date to look forward to.
Touko Amekawa first posted his 7th Time Loop novel to the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro on February 7th, 2020. Overlap later obtained the rights and hired the artist Wan Hachipisu to adapt the series to light novel format. Six volumes have been published in the Overlap Novels f imprint as of October 25th, 2020.
Our time-traveling princess, her prince, and her former boss are as follows:
- Rishe Irmgard Weitzner — Ikumi Hasegawa (Ciel from Tsukihime). A noblewoman of the House of Weitzner. She has met her end seven times at the exact same time, and always returns five years into the past.
- Arnold Hein — Nobunaga Shimazaki (Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen). The Crown Prince of the Hyne Kingdom. He causes incredible tragedy and directly or indirectly ends Rishe’s life in each loop.
- Theodor August Hein — Mariya Ise (Himeno from Chainsaw Man). Arnold’s younger brother. His bratty and borderline immoral actions belie conflicted feelings.
- Kaine Tully — Shinnosuke Tachibana (Kashou Minaduki in Nekopara). The chairman of the Aria Trading Company. He picked up Rishe during her first loop and taught her how to be a great merchant.
- Oliver Laurents Friedheim — Shun’ichi Toki (Kiyoshi from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). Arnold’s servant. He is more than comfortable speaking up, even to his intimidating boss.
Studio Kai set up an official Twitter page and a home page to promote 7th Time Loop. Additional series information, and the new Key Visuals, can be found there.
Use Your 7th Time Loop Wisely
7th Time Loop takes the “royal girl is accused of something” from Disgraced Noble Lady’s Crash Course in Naughtiness and the “chance to avert doom” time travel aspect from Tearmoon Empire. However, 7th Time Loop does things in its own unique way. There’s also far less comedy than in Tearmoon Empire. Unlike Mia, Rishe really needs to work to get one over on someone.
The useless prince, whom Rishe would have married, nullified their political marriage. Rather than succumbing to despair, Rishe flees to embark on a new chapter in her life after the kingdom banishes her. Her demeanor surprised everyone present. In reality, that was the seventh time her former prince broke off their union. The prior six times saw Rishe live a full life in various occupations. However, her fun life is cut short five years later each and every time.
This seventh loop takes a startling turn when Prince Arnold proposes to her right as she’s making her escape. The ruthless prince whose actions killed her six times before. His war spread disaster everywhere, affecting her no matter where she was. Indeed, he personally ran her through during her previous loop. However, Arnold didn’t act like the cold tyrant she knew. So she accepted his proposal, if only to please her parents and the royal family who spurned her before. Her seventh loop begins, and it’s going to be very different than the previous six.
