The goddess bestows divine protection and the gift of a “Class” to those born in this world. While everyone gets that protection, there are rare instances when the goddess doesn’t grant a Class. Arel — a child born to parents with “Advanced Classes” — received nothing when he reached the age of ten. Well, that won’t stop him from writing his own legend. We’ll see how he fares when Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! (Mushoku no Eiyu: Betsu ni Skill Nanka Iranakattan da ga) premieres sometime in October 2025.
Shichio Kuzu and Yumehito Ueda released the original Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! light novel between July 16th, 2018, and June 15th, 2019. Earth Star Entertainment published all four volumes in the Earth Star Novel imprint.
Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! Cast
The classless hero and two of his cute friends are as follows:
- Arel — Kensho Ono (Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). A child born without a Class. He wields a sword to overcome this obstacle.
- Raina — Saori Hayami (Ryu Lion from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III). Arel’s childhood acquaintance who wields a sword.
- Lilia — Sumire Uesaka (Hayase Nagatoro from Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro). A guild leader who is stronger — and older — than she appears.

Fight On! Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?!
Arel was born to parents who possess the scarce “Advance Class” type. His father is the “Magic King” Leon, and his mother is the “Sword Princess” Farah. People expected Arel to inherit their power, as is typical of their world. However, the goddess didn’t grant him anything when he turned ten. Although they were surprised, his parents and sister, Astaire, continue to dote on him.
Arel didn’t let his circumstances stop him from taking up arms. He continued his one-sided sparring sessions with his mother and reached a level where he could fight on par with opponents of the Swordsman Class. He has decided to travel to Bresgia, the city of Swordsmen, to continue his training. He’s grown up a bit more since he beat those Swordsmen, and he’s now on par with his Sword Princess mother.
