Proof 7 – “Science-types Fell in Love, So They Tried Going on a Group Date”

Welcome to the official start of the second season of Science Fell in Love. Ayame is happy to date Shinya with university funds. And it’s the first time we saw the Newton force meter for how hard she whacks Shinya with her pointer. Ayame looks happier and more energized. So, we see the main characters in a clear transition to the next level of their relationship. They had their first kiss and declared love for each other. Now Ayame feels justified in asking Shinya for all sorts of dating situations to force him to confront his feelings. The show feels brand new!
Because Science Fell in Love ❤️ introduced new couples, it feels okay to let Ayame develop her relationship with Shinya in the background. Comparing new pairs to the lead science-type pair is fertile ground for comedy and narrative development. Kotonoha is the new focus, with Kosuke as the secondary one. We already see the fruits of the comedic comparisons when Shinya bases his new line of scientific inquiry on measuring levels of love. Kotonoha doesn’t like Shinya’s new love unit of “Kanade Love Power.” But she can’t deny she’s the only one qualified in the Ikeda Lab to cover a broad range of circumstances. She’s the most “conventional” one in their group!

Science Fell in Love ❤️ starts the episode with a present for the audience. Ayame lap pillow! I like this. It’s so rare to see adult dating in anime. Two people know each other through a romantic filter from the start. No messy friendship or coworker status to gum things up. Ayame is happy for Kotonoha but wants to see the new relationship help a new avenue of love research. Ayame and Shinya call it a “favorable feeling.” Ayame did not want to intrude on Kotonoha’s date, but the junior student relented. Double date! Har! Shinya calls his standard unit of favorable feeling the Kanade Love Power! This does not impress Ayame and Kotonoha.
Ooh. Flashback to Kotonoha in high school. Takahashi-sensei, Kotonoha’s unrequited love, explains how the definition of the meter has changed from its dependence on the circumference of the earth. The context for Science Fell in Love ❤️ is not just to emphasize Takahashi-sensei. It’s also to remind us how arbitrary units of measurement can be. Like Kanade Love Power! Hahaha! Shinya wrote down all the embarrassing things Kotonoha thought about! There are three factors:
- The frequency of looking at the face causes heart palpitations 1/1.
- The number of times the subject must meet the object per day is one (1) time.
- The length of time between meetings that causes loneliness is 48 hours.
Hohoho. Shinya heard Kotonoha’s shameful story when she was drunk! Kotonoha is the “normal” one in the Ikeda Lab, so Shinya feels justified in choosing her as the baseline for favorable feelings. She can’t argue with that statement. Hahaha! Science Fell in Love ❤️ feels like the start of the first season. We haven’t had any Ayame pointer smacks until now. I hope Kanade Love Power becomes a recurring joke.
Yay! Group date mode! Hehe. Nerds! Shinya compliments Ayame’s colors using hexadecimal notation. Look at all the couples at this date spot. Of course. Kosuke brought Aika-chan. Oho. Shinya isn’t only getting the university to pay for his love life. He also got funds to pay for volunteer couples’ romance. Science Fell in Love ❤️ introduced new characters to follow. Madoka Kamiya looks like a reluctant tsundere.
It’s a date episode for five couples! Whoa. Madoka likes her date a lot. That’s why she’s violently hot and cold. She’s the conventional romance anime character in Science Fell in Love ❤️. We’ve been watching weirdo science-types and Kotonoha for eighteen episodes. Fun! Group dating leads to group flirting. It makes sense that the most lovey-dovey couple is the nexus of the flirtation network map.
Ugh. I don’t like this random accident of meeting Takahashi-sensei again. There was thematic foreshadowing but not any plot development in that direction. Takahashi looks emotionally troubled too. This scene feels forced. Science Fell in Love ❤️ has successfully navigated storytelling so far, but it took shortcuts to arrive at the pivotal moment when Kotonoha meets Takahashi again. Trauma for Kotonoha!
Shinya needed to make an audible here. The group date chain needs to follow Kotonoha on her date, but external conditions have changed the subject’s emotional state. It’s the right call to keep the experiment running! Unexpected things can happen on a first date, so what happened to Kotonoha only makes more data to analyze.
Kotonoha is not over Takahashi-sensei. We knew this already, Science Fell in Love ❤️. She worries more about looking like she’s enjoying her date than genuinely enjoying her date. Uh oh. Shinya brings pop psychology to a group date. Crowd dynamics affect individual moods, but will the romantic couples’ vibes help Kotonoha? Who cares? Ayame wuvs Shinya! She wants those Yukimura elements! Chris and Suiu bow to relational peer pressure. The sky deck encourages this behavior! Ahahaha! Madoka wanted her date Taniguchi to ravish her too! The reluctant tsundere scolds herself. I hope people don’t generalize education majors’ behavior according to these two. Kotonoha noticed the romantic atmosphere, but her date noticed she didn’t match the mood. It’s not his fault. Romantic drama comes to the Ikeda Lab!
