This is another series with an extraordinarily long title. The full title is My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer (Bokensha ni Naritai to Miyako ni Deteitta Musume ga S-Ranku ni Natteta / My Daughter Who Wanted to Be an Adventurer and Went to the Capital Is Already an S-Rank). The series will be referred to as S-Rank Daughter for brevity’s sake. It shows a loving father and daughter reuniting after the daughter had left home to become a great adventurer and warrior like he was years ago.
The series is set to premiere sometime in the fall of 2023. Studio Typhoon Graphics has released a trailer to enjoy until then.
Typhoon Graphics set up a promotional home page for S-Rank Daughter and an official Twitter page. Fans and potential viewers can visit those sites for updates, behind-the-scenes information, and bonuses such as the key art below.
A Legendary Swordswoman and the Best Father in the World
S-Rank Daughter follows the wholesome story of Angeline (Saori Hayami) and her adoptive father, Belgrieve (Junichi Suwabe). Seventeen years ago, Angeline was abandoned in the forest. Belgrieve, a retired adventurer, found her. He left his former profession after he lost his leg, so he returned home to live a quiet life. Despite his loss, his skills had not yet diminished. He could take down a monster bear in a single strike, proving his skills.
Belgrieve raised Angeline with all the love and care in the world. He also trained her in the way of the sword and adventurers. She left home five years ago to pursue her goal of becoming a great adventurer like he was. The story begins five years after she left. Angeline had since become an S-Rank adventurer known as the Black-Haired War Maiden. She joined the Orphen Guild and teamed up with the archer Anessa and the magician Milliam.
A wyvern attacked the city, thus dashing Angeline’s plans to return home after five years. The wyvern would have destroyed the town of Garda. Angeline and her comrades defeated it quickly, despite her anger and resentment boiling to the surface. She even continued to angrily cut the wyvern in after the battle ended. It seems it’ll be a while before she can return home to her father.
S-Rank Daughter Origins
If the incredibly long title didn’t give it away, this series was first posted to the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro. Mojikakiya wrote the novel from September 18th, 2017, to January 21st, 2020.
Earth Star Entertainment obtained the rights afterward and hired the artist toi8 to adapt S-Rank Daughter to the light novel format. It was published from February 15th, 2018, to November 16th, 2021, in Earth Star Novel. Finally, this run lasted for eleven volumes.
S-Rank Daughter is currently being adapted to manga format. The artist Ku Urushibara took over illustration duties for this run. The first issue was published on May 8th, 2018, in the Comic Earth Star magazine. There are currently six volumes for fans to purchase and collect.
If some cultured otaku were to be in the mood for a warrior maiden who is clearly S-Rank where it counts, the J-List shop has a suggestion. The Sophia F. Shirring Figma Action Figure Bikini Armor ver. is now available for pre-order. She looks skilled with that sword.
