Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro continues the love-hate relationship between a sadistic junior girl and a mousy senior boy.
The second season of Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro (Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san) started on January 7th, 2023, for the anime winter season. The official title is Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san 2nd Attack. The cast of voice actors returns for the super sadistic romantic comedy, but the animation studio has changed. OLM takes over from Telecom Animation Film, but several staff members from the first season will help the manga adaptation’s continuity. Scriptwriter Taku Kishimoto and character designer Misaki Suzuki will maintain the tone and look of Nagatoro, Senpai, and the gyaru friends who tease the odd romantic couple. The video preview reassures fans that we’ll get familiar jokes and touching scenes.
Don’t Toy With Miss Nagatoro
We can see from the preview scenes that the art direction and manic energy in Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro carried over between studios and the production team. OLM did not toy with the work of Telecom Animation Film! The background art looks the same too, so I’m curious to see what artistic decorations the staff added to eye catches and transitions. The main characters haven’t changed either, so let’s remind ourselves who they are.
The two romantic leads and four supporting characters are back from the first season, so we can expect the same teasing between Senpai and Nagatoro. The other four, Nagatoro’s gyaru friends and the Art Club President, will provide extra entertainment from the sidelines. The basic formula for jokes, touching moments, and outrageously provoked jealousy is rock solid with these six.

- Hayase Nagatoro, played by Sumire Uesaka (Lum from Urusei Yatsura and Kouhai-chan from Ganbare, Douki-chan), is the “super sadistic junior girl” that bothers Senpai.
- Naoto “Senpai” Hachiouji, played by Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia and Sakamichi Onoda from Yowamushi Pedal), is a shy older art student. He is the target of Nagatoro’s cruel affection.
- Gamo, played by Mikako Komatsu (Rebecca Bluegarden from Edens Zero and Sumika Fujimiya from Isekai Ojisan), is one of Nagatoro’s gyaru friends. She likes making Nagatoro jealous by bullying Senpai, whom she calls “Paisen.”
- Yosshii, played by Aina Suzuki (Mari Ohara from Love Live! Sunshine!! and Jashin from Dropkick on My Devil), is the airheaded best friend of Gamo. She doesn’t like it when Nagatoro and Gamo fight.
- Sakura, played by Shiori Izawa (Pino from Edens Zero, Pochita from Chainsaw Man, and Nanachi from Made in Abyss), is a boy-crazy gyaru with a hidden dark side. She’s infamous for destroying groups of friends by dating them behind each others’ backs.
- Sana “Club President” Sunomiya, played by Nana Mizuki (Ann Takamaki from Persona 5 and Tsubasa Kazanari from Senki Zesshou Symphogear), is the stoic leader of the art club. She will do anything for art. Anything!
Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro
We saw this happen in another show in its second season about a bothersome girl yelling “Senpai” all the time. Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro introduces new characters to mess up the dark-skinned bully’s relationship with her scruffy nerd.
- Misaki “Ane-toro” Nagatoro, played by Yoshino Nanjou (Eli Ayase from Love Live! and Maki Inohara from Grisaia: Phantom Trigger), is Nagatoro’s college-aged older sister. She is the source of Nagatoro’s bullying personality.
- Hana Sunomiya is the art club president’s younger cousin. Voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro (Kei Shirogane from Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Uruka Takemoto from We Never Learn: Bokuben). Hana looks like a smaller version of Club President. And also has a habit of public nudity.
- Orihara, played by Kaori Maeda (Shizuka Ousaka from Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club and Yuzu Midorikawa from Kandagawa Jet Girls), appears to be Nagatoro’s rival from the past. Will she become a future rival?
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro has a fun soundtrack. Nagatoro-san herself, Sumire Uesaka, sings the opening theme, “Love Crazy.” The ending song has Nagatoro’s friends joining the chorus in “My Sadistic Adolescence.”
