Senpai helps Nagatoro win a bet against Gamo-chan. Sakura asks Senpai on a date.
Episode 9 – “Senpai’s Such a Closet Perv!! / There’s No Way Creepy Senpai Could Go on a Proper Date!!”
Hmm.
This late into Nagatoro-san season, it’s clear that Senpai cares about and considers Nagatoro’s feelings before acting. It’s more than just preventing her from losing her temper. That’s Gamo-chan’s major motivation. Gamo-chan likes using Senpai to get reactions from Nagatoro too. Senpai is a fantastic addition to her circle of friends because she has so much fun teasing them both.
Gamo-chan is often contrarian to Nagatoro, but this led to a great debate in this week’s episode of Nagatoro-san. Gamo-chan claims Senpai is a “herbivore,” while Nagatoro argued that Senpai has a dirty mind. The lack of libido among the younger generations of Japanese, especially men, has concerned social scientists for years as Japan’s birthrate continues to fall.
Nagatoro doesn’t need to worry about Senpai’s pervy mind. Senpai, however, felt a mix of emotions for letting Nagatoro prove it. He had manly pride to deny Gamo-chan’s accusation that he was an herbivore. He signaled to Nagatoro that he doesn’t hide his interest in sexy things. She should be more careful in how she physically teases him. That would lead to fewer backfires against the innocent Nagatoro, so I hope she didn’t get the message. We need to keep those comedic gags in Nagatoro-san.
Finally, Senpai sided with Nagatoro to ensure she won against Gamo-chan and Yoshi. It’s more proof that he and Nagatoro are already a social unit. He’s not ready to call themselves a couple, but Nagatoro’s friends already get that sense.
Heh.
Uh oh. Nagatoro wants to get physical with Senpai. In a shady way! Oh. Shadowboxing. Har. It’s Senpai’s fault, of course. He lent her Hajime no Ippo, so now she wants to box. Senpai has regrets. He can’t hit a girl back. Classic Nagatoro-san backfire! Clinching is a boxing technique. Is there such a thing as shadow clinching? Oh! It was a flashback! Nagatoro brags to her friends about Senpai “clinching” her. Oh, no, Yoshi. Don’t make Nagatoro jealous. Nice. Sakura wants to “pin” Senpai. Ha! Nagatoro needs to make up a reason to deny her friends from clinching and pinning Senpai. Fail! Senpai, run away! What a stud! Girls are fighting over, uh, fighting Senpai.
Gah! It’s a Nagatoro-san gyaru invasion! Let Senpai handle drawing Gamo-chan’s stylish figure, okay, Nagatoro? Ho. Did a loud group force the girls out of the cafeteria? Sounds familiar. The lack of self-awareness is hilarious. Aha. Instead of going the confrontational route, they dispatched Sakura, the man-killer, to implode the entire gaming crew. Sakura has skills.
Uh oh. Shots fired. Gamo-chan claims Senpai doesn’t act like a horny boy. Nagatoro knows differently, but how much can she admit? Haha! Gamo-chan called Senpai a grass-eater! 草食男子 (soushoku danshi, herbivore men) aren’t interested in marriage or asserting themselves in relationships with women. Nagatoro-san makes social commentary. Gamo-chan saw Alpha-Senpai in action, so she’s just trying to provoke Nagatoro. I think Gamo-chan is closer to the truth when she explains Senpai’s blushing as “acting awkward as all virgins do.” Nagatoro insists that Senpai is excitable. That’s feminine pride talking! Hoho! The sparks fly so strongly that Yoshi can touch them!
Oh, you know Nagatoro is right. Senpai has at least one dirty book in the art club room. Nagatoro has an older brother at home, so she should know how to find a boy’s porn stash. However, Nagatoro-san’s Senpai is smarter than the average herbivore. Good. Call it a “reference item.” Say you read it for the story. Senpai is well on his way to becoming a dirty old man. Mixed feelings, man. Senpai wants Nagatoro to win, but then he’d admit he’s a horny lad. Embrace the ero, Senpai! They both won.
Senpai channels Hajime no Ippo in the eye catches.
Aha. It’s time for Nagatoro-san to show us Senpai’s fake date with Sakura. Oh. Nagatoro got a new earring. Nothing like the threat of impalement to forge a closer bond, right? Aw. Senpai wanted a matching pair with Nagatoro. See? He’s already thinking like they’re a couple. Terrible! Senpai made a haiku that compared a pierced ear to a lord’s right of the first night. Nagatoro fooled him. No cool piercing for Senpai.
Trouble! Sakura needs Senpai’s help. One of those gamer bros started stalking her. That’s new. Nagatoro-san connected two half episodes together. Interesting that Sakura came to Senpai instead of an ex-boyfriend. Or any other male friend. Dude! That stalker is right there! Here we go. Sakura wants Senpai to pretend to be her boyfriend. Nagatoro is not a fan of this idea. Me neither. Sakura thinks the creep will give up if he sees her showing affection to another boy. That won’t work because that guy started stalking her after he saw her showing affection to other boys! In front of his face!
Let’s put that aside because Nagatoro-san’s goal is to make Nagatoro show her black jealous eyes. Gamo-chan is all for it. Ahahaha! Nagatoro tries to argue against the idea the other way. If she pretends to date Senpai, she’ll end up with two stalkers! Nagatoro’s brain stops working when she gets possessive about Senpai. Nagatoro’s panicky screams are the best!
D-Day for Nagatoro-san. D stands for “Date.” Sakura treats date mode seriously. Ooh. Casual gal fashion for the others. Senpai is a simple creature. He wants to hold hands and kiss in a movie theater. Gamo-chan is loving this. She gets to see Senpai act awkward and Nagatoro slowly boil over. And that’s done. Nagatoro became impatient and took out the stalker. Now Senpai and Sakura can end their fake date. Right? Right?! Gamo-chan and Yoshi wanted to take more pictures!
Here’s the Nagatoro-san genuine date experience. Walking home together with a beautiful sunset. Nagatoro’s hair went into its hyper-detailed mode, so you know this is a lasting memory for Senpai. Aw. Senpai disappointed Nagatoro by agreeing with her that he wasn’t ready for dating. Patience, little one.
Next time, Senpai chases after Nagatoro’s tight running shorts. Is that something an herbivore would do? What do you think?
Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san (DON’T TOY WITH ME, MISS NAGATORO) streams on Crunchyroll and VRV.
