After being hyped up a year ago, EDENS ZERO Season 2 is set to release in April 2023. The fine people at J.C.Staff have released a trailer to get fans excited. They had previously released a character trailer for Shiki Granbell, the Natsu Dragneel (from Fairy Tail) of EDENS ZERO. That Shiki trailer reused some old footage, while this new season trailer highlights upcoming events.
The crew of Edens Zero, led by Shiki, is seen encountering — and later joining in a life-and-death battle — against Drakken Joe and his Element 4. Fans should expect epic combat between the Demon King’s Four Shining Stars and Drakken’s Element 4.
For those who missed them the first time, J.C.Staff set up a Twitter account and home page for people to follow for series updates. The home page also provides details about the original manga and the mobile game Konami made. Those aside, there is really cool art, such as the key visual below.
Race to Find Mother Among the Stars
EDENS ZERO follows the adventures of Shiki Granbell and the crew of the titular warship Edens Zero. Shiki meets Rebecca Bluegarden and her robot cat Happy, becoming friends soon after. After a misadventure that leads Shiki to leave his home planet in the spaceship, they decide to find Mother, the Goddess of the Cosmos, with the miraculous gift to grant wishes. Their journey to other planets, through time, and to entirely new realities sees them making new friends, new enemies, and a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.
EDENS ZERO Origins
EDENS ZERO began as a manga series written and illustrated by the legendary mangaka Hiro Mashima. He keeps general trends between his works, such as Rave Master and Fairy Tail, like the prevalence of dragons and incredibly hot girls in skimpy outfits. EDENS ZERO was first published on July 25th, 2018, roughly a year after Fairy Tail‘s initial ending on July 26th, 2017. Not content to work on only one major manga series, Mashima started work on Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest on July 25th, 2018. Kodansha has been publishing all these works.
Hiro Mashima may have formed a Clamp-style multiverse, as seen in the crossover manga series Mashima HERO’S, which ran between October 16th, 2019, to December 25th, 2019, collected in one volume. The protagonists of EDENS ZERO, Fairy Tail, and Rave Master meet and go on an adventure. Hiro Mashima created the manga to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Weekly Shōnen Magazine’s first publication. Indeed, The Oración Seis, a group with six infamous members, can be seen in EDENS ZERO, Fairy Tail, and Rave Master.
Besides manga, Hiro Mashima is noted to be an avid gamer and even made his own EDENS ZERO video game using RPG Maker titled Rebecca to Kikai no Yōkan. He also posts EDENS ZERO art on his YouTube channel and Twitter account.
