It’s been a while since season two aired, and fans of the post-apocalyptic series can get hyped. Dr. Stone New World, the third season in the Dr. Stone anime adaptation, is on the horizon. The trailer showcases Senku and his friends preparing to head to the arc’s namesake: Treasure Island. Nothing but danger and adventure awaits them at that place in a world turned to stone.
TMS Entertainment released this trailer before the scheduled April 2023 premiere date. The season is planned to be split into two halves.
A promotional home page and official Twitter page have been maintained to keep in contact with fans and provide series updates, behind-the-scenes information about Dr. Stone, and bonuses. Check out the key visuals below.
A Petrified World
For those new to Dr. Stone, the title is spot-on with its premise. All of the humans on Earth were mysteriously turned into stone statues on June 3rd, 2019 (a couple of years before the first issue of Dr. Stone was published). The series begins thousands of years later. One of the main protagonists, Senku Ishigami, awakens on April 1st, 5738, having been encased in stone for 3719 years and 249 days by his own counting, as he had been conscious the whole time.
The second to awaken was Taiju Oki, who revived on October 5th, 5738, half a year after Senku, who criticized him for sleeping in. By then, they discovered the proper formula for the Revival Fluid and restored Yuzuriha Ogawa to life. Senku then declared that he would restore the world with the power of science and began his plans to found the Kingdom of Science.
Season three of the series, Dr. Stone New World, will adapt the Treasure Island Arc, which sees Senku follow his father Byakuya’s 100 Tales to find a specific chest on the titular Treasure Island. They board the Perseus and travel to the island to recreate the Revival Fluid after its previous source was destroyed.
Dr. Stone Origins
Dr. Stone first petrified the world for thousands of years as a manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. Shueisha published the series from March 6th, 2017, to March 7th, 2022, in 26 volumes that failed to predict the future. Besides an announced mobile game, there are two light novels written by Ichio Morimoto.
