Uzaki-chan wants a love confession from Sakurai. The Uzaki family butts into Uzaki-chan’s business with her Senpai.
Episode 7 – “Uzaki-chan Wants a Confession!”
Hmm.
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! revealed the answer to its greatest mystery. No, not how Uzaki-chan keeps her balance without shoulder and back pain. How is Uzaki-chan so much better at video games than Sakurai when he’s the loner? We got hints in the last episode from how Kiri complained about never winning against his younger sister. Uzaki-chan likes to sneakily gain every advantage against Sakurai because she is so competitive. She even uses her little sister, the expert gamer, to practice new games to beat Sakurai! Uzaki-chan isn’t better at video games than Sakurai. She only has a head start.
This character development keeps the humor fresh in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. One concern in long-running comedies is when the writers run out of ideas, they add a new main character. The Simpsons made fun of the formula with Roy moving in with the family as the Itchy & Scratchy Show became the Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show. Roy had a better-written ending than Poochie did! Thankfully, Uzaki-chan’s family serves as a device to reveal things about the short stack that Sakurai and her college friends can’t. I can’t wait to see Sakurai’s family and how much they embarrass him.
Before that, we’ll need to see Kiri make short jokes with his tall swimming senpai in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. Also, Fujio’s conflicted emotions will become even more chaotic when he tries to combine his gym friend with the fiend stealing his daughter away. I’m looking forward to those scenes. But the scenes with Yanagi, Tsuki, and Uzaki-chan as the older Uzakis fret over misconceptions will have the most fanservice. I’m getting impatient!
Heh.
Poor Uzaki-chan. She’s preoccupied about Sakurai leaving her, uh, college soon. Hee! Yanagi would get along well with Ami and Sakaki. Har. A junior high schooler called her older sister a junior high schooler when it came to romance. Yanagi is not wrong. She is the only sane Uzaki family member in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. Eep. Stalking is illegal, Uzaki-chan and Kuso Cat! Did Uzaki-chan finally realize that Sakurai was telling the truth that he wasn’t a loner? Look at those thirsty girls! Sakaki tells Uzaki-chan to hurry up. One of those thirsty girls might snap up that tall drink of water! Not to worry. Sakurai likes Uzaki-chan! She doesn’t have to hurry. She needs to make Sakurai hurry and confess his love for her! Perfect assessment… Sakaki only has so much patience for doofus energy.
More stalking in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. See? Sakurai is having lunch with his bros. Where’s the loner that Uzaki-chan insists on seeing? Itou already told her how compatible they are. Just date already! Hahaha! Uzaki-chan’s plan to make him lunch is junior high tactics! Man, Uzaki-chan has no privacy. The entire family watches her in the kitchen as if she’s on reality television. Hahaha! Kiri is there for leftovers. Feed him! Tsuki lacks self-awareness of her own nosiness. Yanagi wants to add the spice of love to Uzaki-chan’s homemade lunch. Fujio has conflicted feelings. Yay! The boys will get lunches too!
Squee! The baka couple eats lunch together. Away from their friends. They really are in junior high when it comes to romance. Good for Fujio! He gets to brag about how much his daughter loves him!
Next up on Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!: Yanagi’s adventure! Aha! This is how Uzaki-chan always beats Sakurai at video games. She practices first with her gamer sister! So sneaky. So petty. Where is Yanagi going? Yeah! She went to the Asia Café! Uzaki-chan can’t deal with this! Yanagi met Sakurai, and the world didn’t end. It feels like it to Uzaki-chan, though. Sakurai enjoys the idea of Uzaki-chan having siblings because he’s an only child. She takes care of him because she has older sister skills. So awkward. Yanagi might spill embarrassing stories about her big sister! Disaster! Sakurai calls two of Uzaki-chan’s family by their first names now. Uzaki-chan is getting left behind by Yanagi-chan and Tsuki-san!
Next time, Kiri and Yanagi want to steal time away from Uzaki-chan.
