Today is World Redhead Day, so I thought I’d write a post presenting the best 15 redhead anime girls, based on J-List readers feedback. Hair color always plays a role in the personalities of anime characters, and redheaded anime characters are often extra bold and energetic, as if their hair color represented the fire that was in their soul.
As you know, there are literally thousands of characters that could have been listed here, but we only have 15 slots, so naturally not everyone could be included. So sit back and enjoy our picks for the top 15 redhead anime girls!
15. Kallen from Code Geass
A great character from a great anime, she’s always getting into trouble and executing some secret plot or another. And she looks great doing battle in her bunny suit.
14. Lilith Asami from Trinity Seven
The character that got me to watch Trinity Seven, she’s the teacher, and an adorable redhead. She’s even cuter when she’s trying to hold her pee in.
13. Stella Vermillion from Chivalry of a Failed Knight
While some may dismiss Chivalry of a Failed Knight as yet another forgettable harem anime, I liked it a lot, especially the way the main character makes his romantic choice in the middle of the story, picking Stella openly and doing sexy stuff with her. Every harem anime should get on this level.
12. Maki Nishikino from Love Live
One of the most popular redhead anime girls, Maki is the daughter of a rich family. She’s a stubborn tsundere but has plenty of charm to win the hearts of fans.
11. Uruka Takemoto from BokuBen
A currently-airing harem anime about a boy teaching three girls how to study subjects they’re not good at, We Never Learn/Bokuben is lots of fun. The top waifu pick of many fans, this one included, is Takemoto, the “sports musume” who’s not good at studying. Between her super cute reactions to her tanlines, she checks all the right boxes.
10. Minori Kushieda from Toradora
One of the best anime made in the 21st century is Toradora, an intense romantic comedy about two people who love two other people. Minorin is the best girl of the show, because she’s voiced by Yui Horie, but also because she’ll give us tons of extra French Fries.
9. Miia from Daily Life with Monster Girls
She’s a bit aggressive. She’s a terrible cook. She’s also a snake. But she’s the most adorable Monster Girl in the whole series. Can you deny it?
8. A-ko Magami from Project A-Ko
Originally planned as a chapter for the groundbreaking hentai series Creme Lemon, this story of a love triangle between A-Ko and B-ko for C-ko’s love was expanded into a proper series once the creators realized what they had on their hands. Project A-Ko defined anime for many of us early fans back in the 80s.
Sōji Mitsuka from Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu
Truly the cutest, most feminine and loveliest redhead anime girl. Wouldn’t you want to date her? Her twintails are her best feature.
Rias Gremory from High School DxD
A series of almost pure fanservice, High School DxD is lots of fun to watch, and Rias really gets the blood flowing you-know-where.
Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate
A super genius scientist who is Japanese yet can’t eat with chopsticks because of living abroad for so long, Kurisu is one of the best anime redheads around. She can write a paper on how the brain works, though she hasn’t mastered the art of wearing her jacket on both shoulders properly.
Satania from Gabriel Dropout
A hilarious and fun anime by the creator of Himouto! Umaru-chan, Gabriel Dropout is about angels and devils who come to Earth and (what else?) go to high school together. Satania is the star of the show.
Sakura Kyouko from Madoka Magica
The fiery magical girl from the hit series by Shaft and Nitroplus, her superpower seems to be able to eat constantly and never gain weight. Wouldn’t we all love to have that power?
Yoko Littner from Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann
The sexiest, most competent 14-year-old sniper you’re going to find anywhere, Yoko is always where the action is thickest, bouncy boobs and all.
Shana from Shakugan no Shana
Part of the holy triumvirate of Shana, Taiga and Louise all voiced by tsundere queen Rie Kugimiya, Shana was a great character in all seasons of the show. She loves to eat melonpan.
Asuka from Evangelion
The essential anime redhead, Asuka really has provided years of entertainment for fans over the years. Originally a fierce tsundere in the 1995 series, her character was softened in the Rebuild of Evangelion remakes to the point that they had to change her name from Asuka Langley Sohryu in the series to Asuka Shikinami Langley for the movies. Plus they improved her backstory a bit.
