Aichan comes back from spring break worried about her train bodyguard, Oniisan. Her little sister, Imouto-chan, begins attending the same high school.
Part 1
First Thoughts.
What a surprise! J-List’s senpai expressed his appreciation at the sudden appearance of Tawawa on Monday Two and Ganbare Doukichan. But the second season of Kiseki Himura’s anime based on his series of illustrations of busty girls was more of a shock than Ganbare Doukichan. The official website, Twitter account, and announcement on Japanese streaming services did not launch until the day of the premiere! You can see that Tawawa on Monday Two’s first tweet is when the first episode aired. Sneaky!
When I got over the shock and glee that two of my favorite artists have back-to-back shows on Sunday, I noticed Tawawa’s new adaptation differs from the 2016 version. Yokohama Animation Lab takes over from Pine Jam, but all the voice actors are the same. Yokohama Animation Lab recently produced the slice-of-life Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! and handled Yom’s Miru Tights series. They know how to make cute girls look even more adorable in an anime adaptation, so there are no worries here. Curiously, Ganbare Doukichan went to newcomer Atelier Pontdarc. They’ve done an excellent job with Yom’s office lady story so far. I hope that continues.
Hmm.
The reason for Tawawa on Monday’s existence is to lift the spirits of people going back to the drudge of life on the first day of the workweek. Spirits aren’t the only things rising after looking at a heavy set of exquisitely detailed bosoms. Tawawa (撓わ, たわわ) means drooping or bending from weight, like a tree branch laden with fruit. That tells you the exact kind of heft you’ll see from each of the Tawawa girls. Their heavy chests are there to make your day lighter!
Heh.
Tawawa on Monday is back! It’s still the springtime of Aichan’s youth. Will Oniisan pluck another figurative bud from Aichan’s body? Ah. Aichan hasn’t seen Oniisan for a couple of weeks because she was on spring break. It’s a new school year. Ha. She’s giving him two buttons instead of the customary one to make up for last week. But how did she get two buttons popping off her blouse instead of one? Hahaha! Competing with Imouto-chan just like in Laputa: Castle in the Sky! Mama-san did not appreciate the extra work of sewing buttons back on.
Yay! Volleybu-chan is back to make all the boys jealous in Tawawa on Monday. Is Aichan more like J-chan these days? Ooh. More fun! Imouto-chan goes to the same school now. She likes sitting on Volleybu-chan’s tan, shapely thighs. I would like that too! Look at the smug face she makes. Now Volleybu-chan has two girls to taunt the boys with her casual fondling. Uh oh. Volleybu-chan and Imouto-chan think Aichan does more than life-counseling on those early Monday mornings. Suspicious! Well, those two buttons worked on Oniisan. Take note of the Tawawa search engine on the monitor.
Aw. I hope we’ll get an animated credits sequence in the next episode. Oho. Epilogue showing Bangs-chan and Sensei living next door to Oniisan! The Tawawa universe is expanding.
Take, of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! fame, illustrated the end card for the SUGOI DEKAI season premiere.
Tawawa on Monday Two (Getsuyoubi no Tawawa 2) streams on Crunchyroll and VRV.
