Episode 2 – “Kotokawa Akira Is Worried About It”

Hmm.

In a summer romance anime like One Room, there are customary plot points to bring a couple together. There’s the beach episode, the onsen trip, the club training camp, and the fireworks festival. There are a couple of more dramatic ones, like the summer typhoon which can also lead to the dreaded hell cold flu. On One Room this week, the summer typhoon made “you” and Akira soaking wet and she ended up wearing nothing but a spare track jersey alone with “you.” Will “you” get the dreaded hell cold flu next episode? Or will Akira provide some emotional drama over her growing attraction to “you?” I lean toward the emotional drama choice because the “one room” is at school and I doubt the anime will waste time on a home visit from a cute junior caring for her sick senior.

Heh.

“You” remembered how “you” first met Akira and how standoffish she was. She admits she’s still like that in homeroom with her classmates, but there’s one room where she has a sunnier attitude. More clues on her guardedness from moving around so much. But she talks about this stuff with “you” in her rural accent. I detect leaning towards intimacy here.

Ooh, drama. Something will happen between “you” and Akira during this typhoon. Kantoku showing a precious, petite girl in wet clothes with her underwear showing? This never happens! (It always happens.) This is a rare moment in One Room where it’s better to be the third person POV instead of the first person POV. “You” looked away to let Akira change out of wet clothes, but that doesn’t stop us in the audience from gawking at her. Jealous? Yeah, “you” can only watch her shadow undress. “You” should also be jealous of “your” gym jersey touching Akira’s naked body. The Gardening Clubroom truly did become “your” private garden.

Oh ho. Power outage! Everything happens in this one room at school. “You” need to comfort a scared Akira in the dark. Lucky “you.” Ah! Did “you” get brave with Akira? Cliffhanger!

Akira noticed her senpai’s smell on the borrowed jersey on the end card.
