Mother’s Day reminds us all to show lovely matrons just how much we appreciate them. For we cultured otaku, it’s a good opportunity to share our favorite motherly waifus. It’s time to show which anime moms we love this season. Then we’ll go spend time with our actual mothers. Anime waifus come first, though.
1. Gyokuyou (The Apothecary Diaries)

Gyokuyou is the Emperor’s Precious Consort from the Jade Pavilion and one of Maomao’s friends. She is also the mother of the Emperor’s daughter, a role Maomao helped her attain during a difficult time in the harem. Despite her lofty position and role as a mother and leader, she’s still a mischievous person who could act as both Maomao’s mother and a sister-figure.
2. Azusa Aizawa (I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level)

Azusa is an immortal isekai witch. Although she did not conceive and deliver children in the more traditional (and fun) way, she is still a mom. Azusa spent centuries hunting the slimes that lived around her house and selling off their materials for a quick profit. The slimes’ lingering resentment formed two humanoid slime sisters. Though one wanted to kill her, the other wanted to live with her. In the end, both sisters moved in with their “mother.” Does she get a Mother’s Day if she’s only a mother because of indiscriminate slaughter?
3. Ine Saito (Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again)

Ine is both a mother and a grandmother. She might look like a young woman with a killer body, but she’s really a senior citizen well into her 80s. A strange event granted her and her husband the power to go between their old and young forms, which they use productively as they go about their day. Despite being together for over 50 years, Ine and Seizo still act shy and lovey-dovey together. If there isn’t a Grandmother’s Day, there should be.
4. Hildegard Adenauer (The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom)
Hildegard is a mother, even if her cruel family would have you believe otherwise. She gave birth to a great daughter, only to see that girl snatched from her because her sibling did not yet have a daughter. All she could do was train her daughter as a strict teacher to ensure she would survive no matter what. She deserves a good Mother’s Day.
5. Hahari Hanazono (The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Love You)

We have a contender for best mother and best girl here. Hahari is Hakari Hanazono’s mother, one of Rentaro Aijo’s first two girlfriends. She later joins Rentaro’s growing harem as his sixth girlfriend. Hahari is attractive, she has big oppai, she’s rich, she cosplays, and not only is she willing to let her daughter join a guy’s harem, she’s willing to join that very same harem. If Ine weren’t around, she would be the best mother.
