If I were to compare Makina-san a Love Bot?!, Episode 1, to something, it would be the detonation of Castle Bravo. Everyone who witnessed it expected an ungodly boom, but the explosion far outweighed anything they anticipated. Makina-san a Love Bot?! defines the phrase, “I came looking for copper, but found gold.” This anime was ecchi perfection. To me, the first episode of Kakushite! Makina-san!! included (or teased) everything that makes ecchi anime so prodigious. The show’s lead heroine has a toned and alluring appearance, the art style invites viewers in, and it features an actual plot!
Kakushite! Makina-san!! doesn’t throw boobs in my face for the sake of throwing boobs in my face — it tries to entertain me. That entertainment is invaluable to me. But before I go into everything I loved and why, let me cover the basics.
Makina-san a Love Bot?!, Episode 1 — A Short Synopsis
Eita Akutsu is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will … at least about robots. You see, Akutsu-kun is an obsessed mecha-otaku. He’s so obsessed that when one of his robots fell down some steps, Eita jumped after it. And while most people would scoff at someone risking their life for a machine, the alluring Makina Agatsuma praised the geeky Akutsu-kun.
But while Akutsu-kun quickly grows smitten with Makina, they live in different worlds, so he brushes those feelings aside. Yet, to Eita’s surprise, when he arrived home later that evening, Makina-san was waiting at his door. And if that wasn’t enough of a surprise, he also discovered Makina-san is a robot — and in her damaged state, he’s the only one who can help her!
To Akutsu-kun’s credit, he didn’t hesitate to offer a hand despite his shock. But that assistant came with a cost — since Makina-san’s a sexual love robot designed to seduce her targets, the only way she can repay him is by giving him ye ol’ shag and bag. And so, Makina-san a Love Bot?!, Episode 1, ends with Akutsu-kun trapped in a life where he must valiantly protect his virginity.

I’m in Love with a Love Bot!
Some things always speak to me. Sunsets over mountains, fields of swaying grass, the intro to “Jason… the Dragon,” and gyaru waifus. These things make my life better. Because of that, I’ve been smitten with Makina-san since the first PV. And how could I not? This woman is what you’d get if you anthropomorphized a stunning desert sunset. Her eyes mirror a late evening sky, and the streak of purple in her bright orange mimics the work of the Almighty.
Before watching Makina-san: A Love Bot?! Episode 1, I hadn’t found any of this season’s anime awe-inspiring. Please, Put Them On, Takamine-san’s art style was a massive turn-off, but I still watched the show (albeit half-heartedly). But when I realized the anime revolved around a coercive plot, I immediately dropped it.
I was excited for Yandere Dark Elf, but Mariabelle is way more appealing in the PVs. Not to mention that HIDIVE brought the holy light … so that’s another no from me. But ten seconds into Kakushite! Makina-san!!, and I knew this show was for me.
Ecchi anime should have fewer High School DxD-styled heroines and more Love Live!-styled heroines. That may be a contentious statement, but I don’t like my heroines looking like dairy cows. Makina-san looks like an average busty bishoujo. And if you ask me, that’s a godsend. This genre has too many waifus who look like they stuffed a shoplifted turkey into their top.
PLOT … INCOMING
As much as I enjoy a pervy good time, I also want an actual story with it. Unfortunately, ecchi shows tend to be quite “meh” in that department. And while it would be foolish to judge the whole show based on what I saw on Makina-san a Love Bot?!, Episode 1, it does look promising. Think about it: there’s a sexual love bot that could act in everything from political assassinations to military operations. And now, someone’s trying to blow her up.
Additionally, a top-level researcher is creating clones or robot copies of herself. The reason behind this remains a mystery for now. But they hint at something nefarious taking place in the shadows. And I’m so excited to see what that something is.

Makina-san a Love Bot?!, Episode 1 Production Ramblings
Can you believe Gojo Wakana from My Dress-Up Darling shares the same VA as Makina-san? Tomoyo Takayanagi’s vocal range is staggering. The ability of others rarely makes me question my own, but I will never be as skilled as some Japanese VAs. On a semi-related note, Tomoyo Takayanagi (Makina) and You Taichi (Eita) also voice-act with each other in Umamusume: Cinderella Gray. I mention this because plenty of anime fans check out shows because they feature VAs they like. So, if you’re a fan of these two, check out Umamusume.
Studio BloomZ put a lot of love into this anime. The animation is vibrant, soft, and colorful, and it also carries a hint of early 2010s ecchi designs that first drew me to anime. The first episode of Makina-san a Love Bot?! so enchanted me that it earned a perfect 10/10 rating from me. It’s one of only three seasonal shows that have achieved this score (so far).
Makina-san a Love Bot?! is streaming uncensored on OceanVeil. And if you prefer the dubbed versions of shows, you’re in luck, Kakushite! Makina-san!! will receive an English dub.
