Top 2023 Waifu — Akane Hououji from The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses

I love the drunken antics of Shiragiku Ono from The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses. But the waifu who charmed me the most was the ice-cool beauty Akane Hououji. She was the first one to openly make her feelings clear for the dunderheaded protagonist. And she wasn’t shy about using all her assets. And breast sets! Akane’s talent for brewing coffee makes her a welcoming morning partner. Meanwhile, her agile and lithe fingers from strumming and picking a guitar inspire a table of contents for ideas for late-night adventures. I want to hear her sing all sorts of lyrics softly in my ear, or as I gaze into her sky-blue eyes, or as loudly as she can in the throes of ecstasy.

Most Relaxing Anime of 2023 — The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today

Imagine a bear-sized cat who loves cooking, cleaning, and household chores so you can come home with premium cat food. That is the story behind Yukichi, the genius cat, and Saku, his frazzled office lady owner of The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today. How did Yukichi get so big? Dunno. How did he get so intelligent? Also, dunno. But I would love to own a cat who can make me drinks and snacks in the evenings and then handle my morning hangovers. But never make Yukichi angry enough to empty out your savings account.

Best Anime Moment of 2023 — Nezuko Walks in the Sunlight (Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc)

One scene I replayed several times to enjoy the swelling of emotions came from the season finale of Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc. Two of Tanjirou Kamado’s strongest motivations caught him in a vice and paralyzed him. How could he save innocent lives while sacrificing his sister, Nezuko? Tanjirou’s older sister made that choice for him. The reward for Tanjirou (who always makes me mutter under my breath whenever I see him defeat foes or help children, “He’s such a good kid!”), when he believed to have lost the only reason he joined the Demon Slayer Squad, was Nezuko bathed in the morning sunlight. Alive, healthy, and joyful. I’m going to go watch that again!
