Episode 1 – “Head Priest”
First Thoughts.
One of the best isekai anime, or worst if you believe MAL rankings, is back and I am so happy to see How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω (Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Ω) continues its awesome fanservice of the lovely characters Takahiro Tsurusaki brought to life in the light novels which inspired the anime. A new season means new girls to join Diablo’s harem, so it was great to the first new girl in the first few seconds. Something else I’m happy to see is Diablo starting to explore his new world instead of just sticking around his room at the inn with a couple of sexy girls piled on top of him. That’s nice too, but watching that happen in a new setting, like sharing bedding next to a campfire, adds variety to the trouble Diablo can get into when he wakes up in the morning.
Hmm.
It’s been about three years since the socially inept and painfully shy Diablo blustered his way through dialogue trees. I’m glad How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord keeps showing us Diablo’s higher pitched and anxious inner voice but we’re into a second season now, so I wonder if the real-life Takuma might grow with confidence and start matching his role-playing character’s voice. I watch Isekai Maou for the fun characters and what makes them fun is how they develop and change as the simple series of circumstances happen to them. Shera and Rem lived through many things last season, so I’ll be on alert for Diablo to start changing too. I hope he does.

Girls running away. The action starts now! This woman is an adult because she has lipstick, so says the anime rules. Ouch! An evil plant swallowed that escort. Nice knowing you, Tria. Androgynous evil person. The holy sage-type woman’s name is Lumachina. She prays to God. Nice lady. Tentacle play already. Isekai Maou is all the way back! Lumachina cries out for God, but we all know the Devil will come to save her. Ha! Diablo falls from the sky. Way to go, “God.” Nice, grand heroic entrance too. Squash a mushroom accidentally. Isekai Maou’s alternate title – “How NOT to Summon God.” Good prologue!
The Isekai Maou opening credits show new characters joining Diablo’s main party. A mysterious girl remains in shadow. We’ll wait for her episode before we see her in the opening credits.
A quick step back in time to show how Diablo fell out of the sky. Shera bouncing to get us back in the fanservice zone. Rem cat girl bubble butt is nice too. Boo! Celestial rays of censorship. I anticipate more creative ways to block the sexy parts from Isekai Maou. Thanks, Diablo, for the ultra-quick recap of the first season. Aw man, Diablo should be accustomed to Shera and Rem’s boob pressure by now. Ah. Diablo tested flying, Lumachina’s holy spell weakened his evil nature, and now we’re caught up.
Of course, the first thing Diablo does in Isekai Maou is freak out at a half-naked beautiful woman. Haha! Nice callback to Shera wanting to sunbathe nude. I doubt Lumachina was sunbathing in the shady forest. Huh. The monster summoner is a Paladin. Seems odd to attack an obviously holy woman. Boo, Diablo! He let Lumachina cover up with his cape. Ooh, naked cape play… I forgive you, Diablo.
Oh, Takuma, you poor man. You needed to go to another world to realize that “women just never really listen to other people.” Try your best, Diablo! The evil Paladin is following orders, “he” says. Diablo’s fights against scrubs in Isekai Maou are still as short and full of overwhelming power as ever. Yes! Accidental groping is the same as ever too! That creative censoring is more like it. Diablo will see that “guy” again since the freezing ice didn’t kill “him.” Oh? Tria is still alive. She’ll be part of a dramatic plot point soon.
Shera has no filter. You can’t tell a holy woman that “God” has slaves and he’s a summoned Demon Lord. Ack. Diablo needs to be “God” because he saw Lumachina’s naked skin, otherwise only her future husband can do that. Yup. He’ll need to marry her now. Welcome to the Isekai Maou harem, Lumachina. Klem still eats biscuits. Edelgard is now a tan glasses-wearing maid. Upgrade! Diablo tells Lumachina he needs to keep his identity a secret. No lies detected! Lumachina is the Head Priest of the Church. That’s a higher rank than a Head Cardinal, in Isekai Maou. And she’s in danger of exposing corruption and embezzlement. Well, nothing new there in the history of the Church.
Aha. Here’s the main plot of Isekai Maou’s first story arc of the season. Lumachina needs to pass through the “old Demon Lord’s” domain to reach the Head Paladin. Wouldn’t this Head Paladin also be part of the corruption and embezzlement? Let’s find out. Diablo believes his dungeon is at Zircon Tower. Let’s find that out too. Sounds like a plan coming together. Road trip! Whoops! Demon Lord Klem meets Head Priest Lumachina. Nice. Diablo is getting more confident at making women stop fighting. That’s a Super Rare Skill in any world.
Time to say hi and goodbye to the characters from the first season of Isekai Maou. Nice present. Klem enchanted Shera’s bow into a Super, Super Rare ebony bow. That Head Paladin doesn’t look like he’s a man of faith. Have fun, guys!
