Anime Expo 2024 has begun, treating us to some exciting announcements. There are cute and sexy waifus galore to appreciate now and in the future. We kept our eyes on the prize and noted some great waifus while we enjoyed the expo. Here are the girls who caught our eye.

1. Hulkenberg (Metaphor: ReFantazio)
Let’s start off strong with the strong knight waifu. Thank goodness Anime Expo highlights video games. Hulkenberg is a proud knight of the Roussainte Tribe and a former member of the royal family’s Kingsguard. She left her post to atone after someone attacked the prince.
Katsura Hashino, Shigenori Soejima, and Shoji Meguro — veterans of the Persona series — are leading the development of Metaphor: ReFantazio. Atlas has announced an October 11th, 2024, release date.
2. Orihime (Bleach)
Orihime truly demonstrates her abilities during this last arc. The trailers for the upcoming cour will premiere on July 6th. We’ll have plenty more Orihime to appreciate in her best costume yet. Yoruichi isn’t going to show the proper use of the window, though.
Bandai Namco also announced Bleach Rebirth of Souls during Anime Expo.

Tite Kubo wrote and illustrated this series from August 7th, 2001, to August 22nd, 2016. Shueisha published all 74 volumes by that point. Studio Pierrot’s anime adaptation premiered on October 5th, 2004.
3. Panty & Stocking (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt)
The angels with loose morals are back! Studio Trigger exhibited a Key Visual for Panty and Stocking’s continuation at Anime Expo. The titular angels last appeared back where they started: cleaning up their mess in Daten City.
Gainax began airing Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt on October 1st, 2010.
4. Hèra (The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim)
Hèra goes unnamed in the original novels, but she has a name for this anime movie. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation released still images during Anime Expo and have been cagey with plot details. Hèra looks to be taking more of an active role during the war between her homeland of Rohan and Dunland.
J. R. R. Tolkien released the first entry in his legendarium, The Lord of the Rings, on July 29th, 1954.
5. Wonder Woman and Green Lantern (Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League)
The Justice League members continue to operate in Feudal Japan. An announcement of the continuation of Batman Ninja during Anime Expo introduced fans to anime versions of Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. The League will have to unite to take on the yakuza.
Kamikaze Douga and Yamato Works released Batman Ninja on April 24th, 2018.
