With its cool temperatures and cozy ambiance, fall is the premier season for comfort. This time of year is perfect for snuggling under your covers and indulging in soul-warming fall romance anime! But with nearly twenty romance anime set to debut in October, choosing what to watch can be a conundrum. Otakus with the luxury of time can explore most seasonal anime. However, the average weeb often relies on recommendations.
Everyone has a different idea of what makes a romance anime perfect. Some prefer steamy romances. Others want affection-filled relationships. Whatever your taste, I’m confident that an anime on this list will make you smile. Here’s hoping you find an enjoyable fall romance anime to fall in love with! Hopefully, you can share the joy of these shows with someone special. If not, can I interest you in this Akane Kurokawa figure to fill that void?
Fall Romance Anime — My Awkward Senpai (Bukiyou na Senpai)
Many romance anime feature teenagers because that’s the demographic the shows target. Don’t believe me? Look up your favorite shows on MAL and you’ll see most are listed as shonen anime. But what if you need some love in your life and can’t stand or aren’t comfortable with teenage romance? That’s where the trouble begins. As any romance lover will tell you, adult-cast romance anime are rare. Luckily, anyone who wants to see adults blush over holding hands this season is in luck! One of the handful of adult-cast romance shows this fall, My Awkward Senpai is poised to become the most loved adult romance anime of the season. But what’s it about?
Much like my B+ Goldship in the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby game, Azusa Kannawa is capable, skilled, and gorgeous, but has the wit of a dead trout. While Kami-sama gifted Azusa with looks, He blessed her with an abundance of awkwardness. Like most people living with a personality debuff, Azusa copes with her flaws and leads a mundane life. But when an affable and kawaii kouhai enters her workplace, the suave-less Azusa quickly falls in love. The only question is, with her lack of glibness, how will she handle her newfound feelings?
If you’re a fan of shows like My Tiny Senpai or My Senpai is Annoying, then this is the fall romance anime for you. No Western streaming service has announced plans to stream My Awkward Senpai.

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!
I’ve always found how people bond fascinating. I remember watching an Argentinian girl gulp down a whole bottle of Montelobos mezcal. To this day (a decade after we broke up), I still find myself smitten with her. Many people bond over strange things. For Melphiera Marchalrayd and Aristide Rogier du Galbraith, their affection began with exotic meals. Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! is a fall romance anime made to enchant the romance-loving foodies of the world.
Born into nobility, Melphiera Marchalrayd has her life dictated for her. Everything from her interests to her very identity was decided by others. But for Melphiera, the haute cuisine that nobility indulge in is like gas station sushi. Melphiera is what you’d get if Andrew Zimmerman reincarnated as a waifu. Mel-chan prefers munching on grilled monsters over indulging in grade 5 wagyu.
Unfortunately for Melly, her love for monster meat puts her at odds with most nobility, making her an undesirable romantic partner for refined gentlemen. But when Melph-chan meets Aristide “Blood-mad duke” Rogier du Galbraith, her culinary pursuits ignite the flame of romance between them!
If anime like Bonjour♪Sweet Love Patisserie and Cinderella Chef suit your taste, give Pass the Monster Meat, Milady (Akujiki Reijou to Kyouketsu Koushaku) a try. Crunchyroll has announced that it will stream this anime.

Fall Romance Anime — With You, Our Love Will Make It Through (Kimi to Koete Koi ni Naru)
When I started exploring anime, The Ancient Magus’ Bride was one of the first seasonal shows I watched. The way it blended fantasy and affection profoundly impacted me, changing how I perceive love. Since then, it has remained one of my favorite anime, and many anime fans share that sentiment. Luckily, anyone craving a human-inhuman romance is in luck! Kimi to Koete Koi ni Naru is a fall romance anime that centers on the love story between a girl and a dog.
If you’ve been wanting a wholesome (furry) romance, this anime delivers. Set in a world where humans and demi-humans coexist (though not always peacefully), With You, Our Love Will Make It Through tells a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story. Mari Asaka, a kawaii waifu, and Tsunagu Hidaka, are both truant students. Their truancy introduces them to each other and sparks a connection. As they get to know each other, Mari can’t help but fall for the furry Tsunagu. Despite the prejudice surrounding their relationship, Mari embraces the love that has entered her life.
Remow licensed and announced this series, so it’s likely it will be available in select territories via their It’s Anime YouTube channel. Their partnership with Anime Onegai could make the series available there for Latin America. This was the case with Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray and Watanare.

Dusk Beyond the End of the World
Imagine waking up as a high school student after a years-long cryogenic nap. You’d probably expect to see familiar sights, but instead, you wake up in a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies. To add to your confusion, you learn that an organization called OWEL now governs everything. Even more bizarre, traditional marriage has been replaced by something called “Elsie.” And if that wasn’t enough, you’re met by a girl named Yuugure who looks exactly like your ex, Towasa.
Then, with a smile, Yuugure asks for your hand in marriage. Instead of accepting, you set off on an adventure with Yuugure, hoping to find Towasa. As you encounter unfamiliar sights and hear unfamiliar words, you begin to reflect on what love is and what it truly means. This fall romance anime is an original TV production. Since it has no source material, I can’t pitch it to any specific anime fandom. But that’s why I recommend it to everyone.
HIDIVE will stream Dusk Beyond the End of the World. The AMC-owned streaming service debuted the first two episodes of the anime last month at Anime NYC.

Alma-chan Wants to Have a Family
If you combined Ms. Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid with Spy x Family (remember, it’s pronounced Spy Ex Family), you’d get Alma-chan wa Kazoku ni Naritai. If you’re craving a cute romance featuring an adorable gremlin, this anime is perfect to satisfy that craving. And it couldn’t have come at a better time. Given the state of the world, anime fans have long needed a truly comfy watch.
When Enji Kamisato’s artificial intelligence program merges with Suzume Yobahe’s cutting-edge robotics, Alma — the autonomous, sapient robot — is born. Despite their grand achievement, Enji and Suzume often bicker like MHA shippers. Alma is so attuned to human emotions that she notices how, beneath her creators’ constant arguing, the flowers of affection bloom. As Alma tries to understand her creators’ true feelings, she becomes part of that comforting love.
Crunchyroll will stream Alma-chan Wants to Have a Family.
