Venalita’s fake origin story might be more truthful than the mascot lets on. The villains’ and magical girls’ abilities and how they work look the same in Gushing Over Magical Girls. Even Magia Sulfur knows how her powers could resemble a violent thug’s aesthetic instead of an adorable child’s innocent shield. She admitted she has to fight differently when the public witnesses a clash. Meanwhile, Utena can freely whip out her pasties and let them hang out. Gushing Over Magical Girls can push the theme of subversive freedom of expression in conflict with societal norms. Free the nipple!
Utena’s kinky energy gushed out and triggered a magical villainess transformation without using her crystal incantation. I wonder if she accesses her fetish emotions all the time that she can’t transform back. Is that how the upper echelons of the Evil Organization move up the ranks? My speculation: The leaders will always be in their sexy, wicked forms because they embraced that attitude without reservations. They don’t even want to return to their usual selves. Venalita could be grooming Utena for middle and upper management.
Now, what happens when a good girl becomes a bad girl? Utena found Magia Azure’s masochism switch. Will Sayo flick it on by herself? Will her costume change and powers change if her sense of propriety shifts to bondage play? I loved watching her struggle with wanting, but not wanting, those feelings. Her blindfold scene also informed us what the audio censorship in Gushing Over Magical Girls sounds like. We’ll have ASMR Blu-ray bait for Mistress Utena’s bondage sessions.

Utena daydreams of tying up Tres Magia and doing this and that! Oh? It sounds like we’re missing the panting, gasping, squealing soundtrack of sexual torture. Gushing over Punishing Bad Magical Girls
Oh, right. A magical girl, good guy or not, needs a name. Venalita has books for chuunibyou titles! “Phantom Domme” is right out because Venalita has no naming sense. Oh, because Gushing Over Magical Girls is talking about names for “nerdy weirdos,” the mascot’s name is Italian for “venal,” as in a minor sin. I don’t believe anything Venalita says about aliens and his self-serving motivations to fight against magical girls’ mascots. Ha! He admitted he lied, which makes me think Venalita included some truth in his story. Tres Magia has a meeting at a family restaurant. Sayo has conflicted feelings! Masochism and moral corruption: check!
What is Magia Sulfur doing? Is she provoking the Evil Organization into a confrontation? It worked. Utena thinks the yellow magical girls’ abilities are only defensive. That’s a flag for a heads-up if I ever saw one. Aw, crap. It’s candle-wax torture! Ah. Kaoruko figured out Utena’s game: she’s a freak! She figured that out after only one episode of Gushing Over Magical Girls. Utena hopes Magia Sulfur will admit defeat. Okay, but what does that do? Ack. Flower tentacles again!
All right! Magia Sulfur reveals what her magic powers look like in reality. Spiked knuckles! Those leather straps make it look like Magia Sulfur belongs on Utena’s side of the aisle. Now it’s a brawl! Look. Utena has battle dress damage! What? Did Magia Sulfur punch through Utena’s gut? No. Wax clones. Utena finally chose a name. Magia Baiser. French for a kiss, and vulgar French slang for fucking. Utena enjoyed receiving motivation to punish Magia Sulfur. But who is this mysterious watcher sitting on a rooftop? We know it’s a new teammate.
