One of the most enticing parts of hentai manga is always the power dynamic of the characters in the story who are getting up to raunchy fun together. No matter what kind of story you’re reading, there’s always a dominant person who’s more in control than the submissive partner who goes along with the flow. Even stories of romantic lovers or first-time flings have power dynamics like this. In S&M Ecstasy, though, the dominant and submissive toggles are set to maximum volume. Every woman in this hentai anthology is either a masochistic sex goddess or a submissive and sadistic plaything, but no matter which side they fall on, they’re all incredibly gorgeous and massively erotic.
Artist Michiking has an instantly recognizable art style that makes S&M Ecstasy even more of a pleasure to read. Over the course of 235 pages and 14 chapters, he draws a surprising variety of girls in an equally varied set of sexy scenarios. Thick, inky lines complement the soft and natural figures of each of these characters. Meanwhile, sharp detail put into the hair and eyes of each person adds a sharp quality to the illustrations that complement the rest of the art really nicely. That attention to detail in the eyes is important because it helps add to how expressive everyone is throughout this book. Well-drawn eyes and mouths lead to entertaining facial reactions during mundane moments, and incredibly sexy faces during the more erotic scenes.
It helps that each face is drawn so uniquely, as well. In fact, every aspect of the girls in each chapter is incredibly well varied and shaken up. Some girls are steel-faced working women with sharp eyes and silver hair, while others are loud and silly kogals with big, bright eyes and wild hair. The variety in style and personality for each character is impressive, and it’s backed up by the great variety of body types in each story. Some girls have modest breasts with tall, athletic bodies while others have a massive chest and thick, soft bodies to match. I never got the feeling of seeing double or having too much of a certain kind of character pop up, which I appreciated a lot. Even the designs of the males in each story are surprisingly well varied. Sure, there are more than a couple of average-sized young men with silky black hair, but there are also gruff and tall working men or sly, conniving blondes. It’s obvious that Michiking knows how to make a striking character design, and in S&M Ecstasy, he makes plenty of them.
The only thing more striking than the unique characters of S&M Ecstasy, though, are the absolutely mouth-watering sex scenes that they partake in. Michiking does a flawless job of drawing soft, pillowy anatomy that naturally bends, bulges and bobs in accordance with the action happening on each panel. Plush breasts and fat asses spill out of the clothes of each girl, while cheeks puff up and tongues drape out during ferocious blowjob scenes. There’s incredibly precise detail put into the breasts on each page, with the way they push and squeeze against everything pressed against them drawn expertly. The uncensored artwork of this release adds a vital extra layer to the art, letting you appreciate the careful attention to detail put into each part of the sexual anatomy of the guys and girls in these stories.
A handful of full-color pages at the beginning of S&M Ecstasy elevate the quality of the artwork even further. In Udon Artisan’s Early Morning, masterful noodle maker and gorgeous boss Uchiko is berating her young disciple Tsunagi for making a terrible batch of udon. She wants him to practice and make another bowl, but he’s used up the last of their ingredients. With no other options, Uchiko commands him to practice kneading udon by fondling her breasts. I might have literally had my jaw drop when I saw her breasts on the opening page. While the colorwork in this chapter is nice, there’s an outrageous amount of detail put into the rendering of her breasts. The nipples have soft and realistic tones of pink in them, with soft rays of light and shadow bouncing off of them that add an incredible sense of realistic depth. It’s without a doubt the most amount of detail I’ve ever seen in a pair of hentai manga breasts, and I desperately wish more of these high-quality colored pages were present in the anthology.
A few of the chapters in the S&M Ecstasy are actually interconnected, adding a bit of continuity to things. The next chapter is the first of three stories about Bonjiri-sensei, a curvy and awkward hentai manga author struggling with her manuscripts. The 2nd chapter in this set stars the manga editor Satou, a tall and slender woman with sharp eyes and a commanding attitude that I couldn’t get enough of. After this trilogy is the S&M Triangle trilogy of chapters. This is a series of stories all about a young man being taken advantage of by the rich and busty student council president Karen and her incredibly masochistic and manipulative maid, Shion. Each of these collections was an absolute treat, showing off some of the most erotic and interesting characters that the manga has to offer. While the rest of the singular anthology stories are also a treat, the added development, and growth the characters experience in these trilogy stories add some significant weight to my enjoyment of them.
S&M Ecstasy is an absolutely incredible collection of sexy, sadistic and oh-so-enjoyable hentai stories. Michiking is a masterful artist who draws some of the best breasts I’ve ever seen in hentai manga. He also has a great talent for drawing varied and interesting characters, though, and all of that comes together to deliver one of the most solid FAKKU releases currently available.
