FAKKU Manga Review: Fresh Meat by BoBoBo

BoBoBo continues to be one of the best current artists in the world of adult manga. When I reviewed his previous FAKKU book release, Meaty Minxes, I was blown away by the detailed artwork and incredibly funny stories. There was a huge amount of thought and care put into every page of that book, and I thought it would be impossible to top that kind of output. But here we are, with a new anthology book release by BoBoBo titled Fresh Meat, and it might be even better than his last one.

Much like his previous work, Fresh Meat is an anthology of 13 standalone chapters telling various different stories about sexual shenanigans involving a variety of different girls. BoBoBo tends to specialize in big, beautiful women, and his work here is no exception. Every girl in this book has huge breasts, huge legs, a huge butt… everything about them is just big. BoBoBo puts care and detail into drawing them with realistically plump proportions, though, rather than just sticking balloons onto beanpoles. On top of that, each girl has a totally different personality, hairstyle, and overall demeanor that keeps them from ever seeming too identical.

The beginning chapters of Fresh Meat are drawn in full color, and they’re absolutely incredible. The first story is 4-page full-color short about a Russian exchange student named Maiya-san who moved into an apartment complex in Japan six months ago. She’s always short on money to pay her rent, but thankfully, her landlord is more than happy to accept other forms of payment. It’s short and sweet, but what really makes this story is the incredible colorwork by BoBoBo. You get a great sense of Maiya-sans physique and nationality thanks to her fair white skin and her golden blonde hair. The way light and shadows bounce off of every curve on her body add a lot of detail you don’t get in the black and white stories and makes each page an absolute treat to look at.

The 2nd chapter of Fresh Meat, Great Luck Virgin Loss, is another 4 pages of full-color excellence. In this one, a young man visits a shrine and purchases a good luck charm. However, when he notices that it says “Great Eros” on it, he asks the shrine maiden for help. She informs him that this ticket entitles him to very special prayer, and she proceeds to bring him to the shrine office for some 1-on-1 cleansing of impurities. It’s a silly premise, but the short nature of the story means that we skip straight to the raunchy stuff. The way the shrine maiden immediately gets right to the action, and how quickly the protagonist goes from being unsure and confused to totally willing and fired up is equal parts entertaining and erotic. Again, the colorwork here by BoBoBo adds an extra layer of enjoyment to his already incredible art. The white of the shrine maidens uniform contrasts with the peach tone of her skin and her dark hair, and while the backgrounds are a little basic after page one, it’s more than made up for by the sheer amount of detail put into every piece of anatomy in the story.

The third story, Sister-in-Law Milk, is a bit meatier at 24 pages. This chapter of Fresh Meat focuses on Arisa-san, a young mother raising her newborn with her clueless husband Taihei. He’s at the office every day and barely has any clue how to take care of a kid, causing the busty stay-at-home mom to storm out in anger one day. Upon leaving, she remembers that her step-moms teenage son, Youhei, is house-sitting alone for a few days while the family is away on a trip. Too upset to return home, she decides to crash at her younger brother-in-law’s place and drink until she passes out. Out of frustration, Youhei grabs her massive lactating breasts, and when one thing leads to another, the two end up having a wild night together.

This story was great because, even without any color, there’s a wealth of detail put into the art purely through shades of black and white. The light hue of Arisa’s long hair contrasts against her slightly darker skin to show you that she’s a tanned, blonde and buxom kogal. She’s also absolutely dominant and experienced, and even in her drunken state, the way she guides Youhei through his first sexual experience as the two fool around makes for a fun and adventurous dynamic that made this one of my favorite stories in the book.

Another stand-out story in this compilation is Don’t Stop Adachi-Sensei. The main character of this one, Adachi, is a 21-year-old virgin who’s spent a long time tutoring a young girl named Miyu. She’s beginning to grow up and develop a more feminine body, though, and it’s beginning to push Adachi to his limits. He thoroughly explains to her gorgeous, black-haired mother that he needs to resign from being their teacher before his sexual frustration leads him to do something to Miyu that he’ll regret. The mother entirely understands, but instead of letting him go, she tells him to join her in Miyu’s room in a few minutes. When he arrives, he finds the mother dressed in a schoolgirl uniform, asking him to call her Miyu and do whatever he wants to her in order to appease his sexual appetite. This Fresh Meat story is a gem and the way the dynamics between the characters changed as it went on kept me loving it from page to page. Adachi starts out meek and nervous, but when the mother eggs him on to do whatever he wants, he goes absolutely feral. In the turn, the mother ends up having a bit too much fun with this naughty tutoring session, and the lines between fact and fiction for their little roleplay session blur in incredibly interesting ways.

My favorite story in Fresh Meat, though, is the hilarious chapter titled “Pose!!”. Kuribayashi is the number one beauty at the Rinjindou Fine Arts college. She’s a sculpting major with sharp eyes, even sharper eyebrows, and a gorgeously curvy body. One day she’s out drinking with her friend Izawa, a huge and buff fellow sculpting major who’s also incredibly shy. She decides to have him pose naked for her as her next modeling project, but when the day finally comes, he can barely muster the courage to take his clothes off for her. When he finally does, she’s blown away by the fact that his dick is just as beefy as him. Being inches away from Kuribayashi causes Izawa’s body to react like any man’s world, but while he’s freaking out and apologizing, she decides it’s time to get some hands-on experience with her model. Right from the first page, the visual of this huge ripped adonis being so shy and meek in front of Kuribayashi was a really fun twist on what you’d expect from characters like these. As she continued to have her way with him and he went along with all of it, the gorgeous art and variety of poses the two perform kept me just as engaged as the unique story did.

Fresh Meat is an absolute gem of a book and a must-have for anyone who likes their girls big and curvy. Every chapter focuses on a different kind of girl in a different sort of story, but they’re all drawn with an equally loving amount of detail and plumpness that kept me glued to the screen from beginning to end. From slutty exchange students to promiscuous mothers-in-law, this book has everything you could ask for.
