Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?, wrapped up last week with its eighth episode. I wasn’t sure how the anime would say its goodbye. I thought of many things, but mommy play wasn’t a consideration. Yet Akane and Nadeshiko ended their anime days with the former getting an exhaustion fever and the latter taking care of her. It was sexy, it was absurd, and it was far too short… a last episode befitting the series.
Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? — I Don’t Know, But I Do Know What I Thought of It
Let’s talk about the show as a whole. As much as I love horniness, and I do love horniness, it was Nyan Pollution-ω- ‘s art that won me over. Everything from normal interactions to the sex scenes felt so comfortable.
I’m like a T. rex, movement and colors attract me — and for the most part, Nyan Pollution-ω- delivered in those aspects. Was every episode perfect? Absolutely not. Plenty of scenes in Android wa Keiken Ninzuu ni Hairimasu ka?? were stunted, off, and plain crap. But I only ever expect perfection from Studio Bind or C Station. So, if you’re expecting any ecchi besides Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation to have SSR-level animation, your expectations are dumb. I hate it that it’s like that. My discomfort doesn’t make it any less true. I hope one day that changes.
I doubt most ecchi anime lovers will complain about the fan service in Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? Will they complain about its duration? Yes, yes, they will. Even full-length multi-season anime fail to adapt their source material properly. Most short-form anime don’t even stand a chance. But they don’t have to. They only need to captivate you.

When Short Form Anime Works (And When It Doesn’t)
What do Crossing Time, Aiura, and Yama no Susume have in common? They all run under 5 minutes, and are some of my favorite shows. In fact, long before Yama no Susume‘s fourth (and only full-length) season, that anime had me summiting mountains. Short-form anime can punch well above its weight. Unfortunately, I can’t say that about Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?
I would have been happy if the anime had focused solely on its home-life charm and existential dilemmas. However, introducing Nadeshiko’s mom and other elements toward the end added too much for such a short series. Still, despite that, most episodes managed to convey genuine emotion.
I love contemplating how advanced, intelligent human-like robots would fit into society. Most people seem to think they’d be machines and nothing more. But we already have proof that’s not going to be the case. A few months ago, the fashion giant Shein got in trouble for selling sex dolls that looked like kids. Those were inanimate things made of silicon that only looked human. Imagine what people will do when an android comes along that looks, feels, and behaves like us. They won’t be treated like things for very long. While Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?, only briefly touches on that future conundrum, Akane’s hesitancy in treating Nadeshiko like a thing is an issue society will grapple with in the future. I have to give the anime props for considering that.

Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? — Overall Horny Thoughts
Android wa Keiken Ninzuu ni Hairimasu ka??, was the horniest anime of the season. Even Passione’s Chained Soldier can’t compete. But how good of an anime was it? To my surprise, it has a 7.23 rating on MAL. Most horny short anime rarely gets to 7. But you’re not here for what MAL says. However, I agree with that score. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. The balance between Nadeshiko’s horniness and Akane’s “I wonder if I should be doing this” was enough to keep me invested. It wasn’t enough to fully satiate me, but it tried. Here’s hoping one day Deregula gives us a full-length adaptation.
