Episode 4 — “Rampage”
Hmm.
Have you seen hilarious internet memes where dogs and their owners resemble each other? My favorites are the Afghan Hounds, with their masters, both showing long, flowing locks, looking like they stepped out of a shampoo commercial. Chained Soldier took that idea and ran it all over the demon realm during the last few episodes. But other notable wrinkles emerged after Kyouka lent Yuuki to Ren, so let’s discuss them.

Does Power Corrupt or Reveal Character in Chained Soldier?
We’ve often heard Lord Acton’s aphorism about power and authority, “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” It echoed in my mind as soon as I saw Yuuki transform into a foul, black demon exuding ashen miasma. Ren is the closest thing to Superman in the setting of Chained Soldier, but we have already seen that a dark streak lurks behind her forced smile. Bell, the 2nd Squadron Commander, humorously recalls “petting sessions” with Ren. But it remains for the audience to see whether their time together is degrading or cutely humiliating.
Yuuki’s Slave form reflects the abilities and personality of whoever holds his chain. We’ve already seen examples from Nei, Himari, Shushu, and Yakumo. But we’ve never seen the Slave mode affect Yuuki’s mind until Ren borrowed him. Chained Soldier has always allowed the audience to hear his inner thoughts in the other scenes, but it chose not to with his Killer Fang form.
Girls gain paranormal powers by eating Mato Peaches, but I’ve never heard about what happens to men. The Shuuki in the demon realm all seem like mindless brutes, while the unique ones possess the low cunning of animals. Did Yuuki become a mindless dog because Ren’s Peach Power is the purest?
Chained Soldier packs speculation and world-building into one scene with Ren. I loved that!
Pantyhose Fans, Rejoice!
Of course, Yuuki’s Slave action scene comes balanced with a reward ritual, so Ren’s scene did not disappoint. Her character design takes on elements of a prim and proper student council president, complete with pantyhose. No easy access there, boys. And having her act like a dog asking for cuddles and pets broke her brain! She didn’t tame Yuuki, only breaking his body, so behaving like a kept dog greeting her master was further humiliation. Chained Soldier is such a fun show!
Chained Soldier Makes Me Say Heh.
Location — 10th Squadron Headquarters. Fancy dorm! Huh. The 6th Squadron members won’t have much activity besides Kyouka and Yuuki. Ren wants a new play toy. Ginna (you remember her) escorts Yuuki and Kyouka to Ren’s inner domicile. The subordinate explains how Ren’s scariness is part of her charm. If you say so! Yuuki’s takeaway: the Demon Defense Force Supreme Commander attracts fear and respect from her subordinates. Ren’s backyard is a traditional Japanese garden where she plays with Shiba Inus. Ren has much influence in the human world due to her superhuman powers, even bodyguarding politicians.
Hahaha! Ren’s Shiba Inus adore Yuuki! Why? They’re big sisters who smell little-brother energy. More nods to Yuuki’s big-sister complex in Chained Soldier. Of course, Ren treats Yuuki like a pet dog, too. Kyouka is impatient, so Ren gets to the point: she wants to borrow Yuuki out of curiosity about his transformation with her. Kyouka hates the idea but can’t articulate why. Let’s see how Yuuki looks. Whoa! He looks like an evil Doberman pinscher. Yuuki is incoherent, his eyes glowing red like an intelligent Shuuki. Ren aims to test him.
Dark Dog Deserves Discipline
Shuuki hordes should provide ample material for Yuuki. What is that? Yuuki manifested jaws around their heads! Woof. Yuuki’s a feral dog! He tried to bite the hand that held his chain. Kyouka fears the worst.
Ah. Ren disciplining Yuuki like a rambunctious puppy doubles as a chance for the Chained Soldier’s narrator to explain how Ren’s Peach Power works. Dominatrix fetishists drool. Yuuki’s Killer Fang form boasts several abilities, including regeneration. Ren’s Peach Power, All-Encompassing Lord of the Cosmos, features a mandala of eight Buddhas. And she can combine two abilities, whose symbols shine out of her eyes. Ren incapacitated Yuuki, but she didn’t tame the black dog. Oho. The reward system starts now! Who’s the pet now?

Chained Soldier Will Work for Scritches and Zoomies
Oh well. We must suffer through Ren’s backstory as a superior human being before Yuuki’s reward humiliates her. Har! A female Donald Trump (the president of THAT nation) dubbed her “The Pinnacle of Life. Earth’s Answer.” The American leader is a branding expert, even in Chained Soldier. Yet there’s Earth’s Answer stripping down to her pantyhose! Ren mistakenly thought Yuuki only needed head pats because that’s all she ever saw. He’s a rutting beast instead of a cute puppy. Ren’s cancellation ability can’t break the reward ritual either. Look at the disgusted face she makes while showing him her panties!
What is Yuuki’s reward from Ren? It’s puppy play! She acts like a puppy begging her master to pet her! Yuuki’s subconscious desires surface again in Chained Soldier. Finally, Ren can move again because she satisfied Yuuki. But not the audience yet! A wardrobe malfunction will suffice. Kyouka arrived in the aftermath. Ren complained about Yuuki needing more training to control her powers. Oh, Ren is angry! She has never suffered such humiliation!
Ren’s eight Buddhas put Yuuki’s body through the wringer. He’s sore everywhere! Meanwhile, Kyouka feels frustrated but can’t identify the reason. It’s called jealousy, Kyouka, j-e-a-l-o-u-s-y. At least she channeled her excess energy into churning out a pile of defeated Shuuki. Kyouka tells Yuuki he needs more time to recover.
Chained Soldier shows another squadron leader meeting with more sitting around and talking. Kyouka left Yuuki at home instead of bringing him as Ren ordered. Who will the Supreme Commander play with now? Bell hopes it’s not her. Too late! Kyouka hated how pushy Tenka was to borrow Yuuki, and now she hates how patient Tenka is. Jealousy. J-E-A-L-O-U-S-Y. Oh? What does Himari’s mother wish to discuss with Kyouka?
Family Cat Fight — Chained Soldier’s Next Story Arc
Back at the 7th Squadron headquarters, the girls have been taking turns massaging Yuuki. He can’t do chores or training yet, so they need to heal him up quickly. Himari wonders how lewd Yuuki’s next reward will be! Ah. Fubuki arrived with Kyouka to talk to her daughter, Himari. But first, let a woman who knows a man’s body manage Yuuki’s massage. That only looked lewd! It was a legitimate massage technique!
Down to business for Chained Soldier. Azuma family business. It must choose the Family Head’s successor. I can’t focus on any details as Fubuki bends over Yuuki while tugging and stretching him. Himari renounced her claim after she left the household, but Fubuki has a request — they should bathe together. Of course! What an excuse to see Himari naked again! There it is. Fubuki will “end” Himari before she embarrasses the Azuma name if she doesn’t participate in the selection contest. Himari angrily agrees. What? No bath scene? Chained Soldier robbed us!
Tug and Rub — Just Not Like That!
Uh oh. The other girls want to rub Yuuki all over after he complimented Fubuki’s massage. Himari isn’t in the mood for jokes anymore after her mother’s threat. Plus, there are the other Azuma family members she’d rather avoid.
Epilogue time. Ren recharged her dignity by petting her dogs. And Ginna took over the omake duties, commenting on Ren’s foot-stomping punishment.
